maligned
Stevan Micic will go for a bronze medal at the Euro's today at noon US Eastern time, 6pm local time in Italy. He lost a round of 16 match yesterday to multiple time world medalist Atli of Turkey, 7-5. He then easily worked through the repechage this morning to advance to the bronze medal match against an Armenian who lost 6-3 to Atli. Micic traded 1-point matches with Atli last year, so he's a familiar opponent. This time, Atli hit a duck to get behind and then launched him for 4 in the first few seconds of the match. From there, he was mostly on his horse and Stevan was never really in a spot to put the match in great question. I don't believe Micic has ever faced the Armenian Jaburyan. He's been around and had some decent results, but he's 35 and this is the first time he's been Armenia's rep at a big event for the last couple years. He's had a couple nice wins in the tournament and fought hard against Atli, but Stevan should be favored to get the win in what should be a relatively tight match.
