Caleb Spires
I’ll give Northwood a shout out. Today at Goshen they had three 4th placers from last weekend take out the Westview sectional champions, and all three went on to place third, avenging losses from last week’s third place matches. backtothemat
Anyone know why Pierson FF’d to Lowery in the 126 finals of Perry Meridian SS? I’m assuming injury, hopefully not too bad though.
FC118
Not sure what happened to Pierson but he took a hard slam to the face in the semifinal match. backtothemat
FCFIGHTER170
At Richmond 220 #17 ranked returning SQ 40-2 Browning didn't advance..NC first year 220 Jack Taylor ws losing by 4 with 30 seconds opening round to get a reversal and pin with 4 seconds left.. Then turns around and wins a UTB 9-8 over Stud Schaefer to make the finals.. Then almost pulled another upset over Pierce losing at the very end 5-3.. Considering Pierce pinned jack twice already this shows his resiliency! First year Kid gets regional runner up in a loaded field.. Glad he's got another year to learn.. Congrats to all the coaches and wrestlers all across the state!
Silvertone1696
I thought Crown Point certainly wrestled well as a whole but unsurprisingly at 120 Gio Diaz knocks off Riley Bettich for the second week in a row by a 4-2 score after fighting off a game Cole Solomey 4-1 in the semifinals. Solomey would take 3rd for the second week in a row. Look for Bettich and Solomey to cause headaches for the blood round at EC. I could see all three heading to Indy. Ty Haskins (26-6) of Portage won Hobart at 120, Brodie Fogarty (29-6) of Mishawaka wins Penn, and Sam Hein (36-1) of Harrison WL wins Logansport... so if Hein pulls Bettich in the blood round that would be a crazy possibility.
