Gophers
Does anyone know why the team scoring at the semi-state level was changed from last year? 2017-2018: Round of 16 win by fall (+2), TF (+1.5), MD (+1), etc... 2018-2019: Round of 16 win by fall (+0), TF (+0), MD (+0), etc... Was an announcement made that I missed? Thanks
Y2CJ41
Per the minutes from May 4th, 2015 we are supposed to have scoring there. http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/about%20ihsaa/minutes/2014-15/050415.pdf 1. Change team scoring to begin in the first round of three levels of the state tournament – regional, semi-state, and state finals. A motion to approve the proposal was made by Paul Neidig; seconded by Steve Cox; motion approved 17-0. However in the winter bulletin it says this http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/quick resources/Winter Bulletin.pdf Scoring Individual and team scoring shall be decided according to Rule 9 in the current Wrestling Rules. Six places shall be awarded at the sectional. Team scoring in the sectional shall begin at the quarter‐finals level and not before. Only four places shall be awarded at the regional and semi‐state levels. Scoring at the Regional, and Semi‐State level will begin at the round of eight. Team scoring at the State meet will begin during the opening round with advancement points.
MattM
So did they go back and re-vote on this scoring change again but we didn’t get the memo? Or did someone just copy this text from an older source without even checking on any changes they had made since then? As much as the first option annoys me since it should be scored from the start and from the earlier vote they should know why. It’s at least better than the complete lack of apathy for our sport and team champions that the second option would imply? Gophers
So the Winter Bulletin says team scoring shall be decided according to Rule 9, yet Rule 9 doesn't mention changing the scoring at the Regional and Semi-State level. So as Matt so nicely summarized; is it lack of communication (re-vote / no memo) or apathy (changed it and don't follow their own rules)? 2018 - 2019 IHSAA Winter Bulletin "VII Scoring Individual and team scoring shall be decided according to Rule 9 in the current Wrestling Rules.
