Cathedral vs Detroit Central Catholic

If you would have told me Mosconi, Rodgers, and Slivka would go down in the same dual this year, I would have kissed your arse. Wow. What a squad!

The crazy part of it is they all lost to DCC's backups.  (At least according to the lineup on TW)

DCC's starters are:
Derek Gilcher (145 - 1st at Brecksville, Flo #18)
Cameron Amine (152/160 - 1st at Brecksville, Flo #2 at 160)
Kevon Davenport (152/160 - 2nd at Brecksville to Donnell Washington, Flo #7 at 152).

That's some serious depth!

That is incorrect. Those are the 3 young men that beat us.

145: #3 Alex Mosconi loses to #1(D1) and #18 nationally Derek Glicher 7-1 to make the team score 8-9!☘️🤼‍♂️

152: #2 Elliott Rodgers loses to #2(D1) and #7 nationally Kevon Davenport 6-2 to make the team score 8-12!☘️🤼‍♂️

160: #2 Jordan Slivka loses to #1(D1) and #2 nationally Cameron Amine 7-4 to make the team score 8-15!☘️🤼‍♂️

Tough loss for Cathedral... they got smoked BUT lost 5 matches by decision. So it was closer than the score..16-40.

132Logan Bailey (Indianapolis Cathedral) over Dominick Lomazzo (Detroit Catholic Central HS) (Dec 4-1)

What? How do you go from being smoked with a score of 16-40 to it even being considered close?

Mosconi lost 7-1 not close

Rodgers lost 6-2 somewhat close

Slivka lost 9-4 not close

Huffman lost 5-2 somewhat close

Guhl lost 1-0 now that’s close

lost 5 matches by major or worse

Good to see them seek out tough competition but let’s not sugar coat a loss.

Those are results that breed lessons.  Obviously.....it’s never ok to celebrate defeat.  But man......the Rogers & Slivka matches show a very small gap to close.  Especially Jordan’s!  That’s a solid performance against a ridiculously talented Amine.

Then someone sure as hell entered it into Track Wrestling badly....

Though that does make more sense.

Ah, don’t look too much into my quick analysis. The score makes it looked like a bad loss. But the matchups make it look closer than the score.

Can someone confirm who they wrestled? Like swim fan says track has a completely different lineup.

I will say that if you look at the Cathedral - Dundee match, it shows Casey Swiderski wrestling both 106 and 113.  I'm guessing that's not correct so mistakes would not surprise me.

DCC beat Mount Carmel by 1.  Mount Carmel I believe had 5 Indiana kids in their lineup for that dual.

And don’t they have some of our coaches too?

do you have results for that match? I’d like to see how it compares to Cathedral’s match.

Have to assume its correct, but there are definite changes in the lineup vs. what there was Saturday.  Then again, Saturday's results were incorrect until changed sometime Sunday.

Which are the Indiana residents wrestling for Mt. Carmel? Which school districts do they live in?

This is one small element of the region dropping off in dominance that might not get discussed--seems there are more and more kids heading to Illinois private schools. If you add 5 Mt. Carmel starters to the East Chicago semi-state representatives at state, it certainly would add some nice depth.

#14 Colten Drousias- Hanover Central(if his dad was still the coach there, they may have formed up a power house) I know had an offer on a house in that school district right up until they let Mike go.

Noah Mis- Griffith

Rehan Uribe- Crown Point

Robert Bowman- Griffith

Nick Mishka- Lowell I believe

Miles Hoey- possibly Lake Central

One sub-point to this in terms of ECC semi-state depth is that I suppose Culver Academies is doing some heavy lifting in replacing that lost talent with another state's high-end imports.
