SWINfan
I'll start a new thread here to help segment the results rather than having one long thread. Post results or updates here beginning January 9th, 2019. I'll likely create a new thread as we get closer to the post-season so we can discuss conference and national tournaments apart from season results.... Here is a basic recap on the last few posts in the 1st Half thread..... Mason Parris is now wrestling shirtless (red, that is) and defeated #1 ranked Dhesi of Oregon State last Friday night. Dhesi is a 2x NCAA Placer (3rd, 5th) and 3x Qualifier. He took the fall semester off so he could compete for Canada at the UWW World Championships. Mason also won again at Arizona State on Sunday. His unattached results now count and he is 19-3 on the year. He entered the national rankings after losing his redshirt and came in at #7 (Flo) and #8 (Intermat). Michigan wrestles at home Saturday against Illinois. Stevan Micic has been battling an injury, but came back this weekend and won by tech fall in both matches. He is now 5-0 on the season and is ranked #2 (Flo) and #3 (Intermat). Penn State and Nick Lee are back in action Friday and Sunday this weekend, battling Northwestern and Wisconsin. Lee is ranked #4 by both services and undefeated on the year. He has a potential battle (rematch) with Chad Red coming up when PSU hosts Nebraska on Sunday Jan 20. Red has a challenge this weekend facing Northern Iowa and 8th ranked Josh Alber.
MattM
Good call on a new thread for second half of the season. I actually though about needed a new thread last week since the old one was getting long. I’m glad you had a similar thought. Things are going to get interesting as the Big10 dual season gets into full swing.

On a separate note: I am updating the thread on the NWCA Multi-Divisional Duals in Louisville last weekend. There were A LOT of results, so I will keep them to that thread for that event. I also included season records for as many guys as I could find. I'm sure I missed some guys and the records may not be perfect. It includes results from SEVERAL programs that include Hoosiers from D2, D3 and NAIA. base

SWINfan
Another interesting match with an indirect connection to Mason Parris. Penn State's Anthony Cassar faced Northwestern's Conan Jennings tonight. Jennings is 6'7 and all of 285, one big dude! Jennings beat Mason at The Midlands 6-4. Cassar handled Jennings easily tonight winning 12-2, scoring 5 takedowns. Cassar is REALLY strong. He had Jennings' feet off the ground on at least 3 of the takedowns, including the first when off a blast double, he was able to lift him completely off the ground and up on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, before returning him to the mat. Cassar and Mason are similar in size and quickness. But Cassar is a 5th year guy with big-time strength. He'll provide a real test for the young Mr. Parris. Parris' real test this season will be a 4 match stretch beginning Jan. 25. Jan 25 @ Ohio State vs. #18 Chase Singletary - Singletary is responsible for one of Mason's 3 losses and this will be a good opportunity to see him rebound and how he has adjusted with more experience. Feb. 1 @ Penn State vs. #4 Cassar Feb. 10 Northwestern vs. #19 Jennings Feb. 15 @ Maryland vs. #6 Youssif Hemida Note: Michigan does not face Minnesota during the regular season so a match up with Gable Steveson will have to wait until the B1G or NCAA Tournaments. SWINfan
Saturday night results..... At Nebraska, @141 Chad Red fell by decision to Northern Iowa's Josh Alber 6-4. At Michigan, @133 Stevan Micic won by Major decision over Illinois Dylan Duncan 18-8. At Michigan @285 Mason Parris gets the fall at 5:57 over Illinois Duece Rachal. Parris was leading 14-3 when he got a chicken wing and a half after a failed suck back attempt. Once he got him turned, it was over quickly. Michigan wins the dual 28-10. SWINfan
Sunday January 13 Missed a Friday night result for Drew Hughes and Michigan State. Hughes beat Illinois' Carver James 4-2 SV1. Lots of Big Ten action today involving some Hoosier wrestlers.... Penn State and Nick Lee host Wisconsin Michigan State and Drew Hughes visit Ohio State IU hosts Maryland. We'll see what Hoosier natives wrestle for IU today. Also, Iowa is at Minnesota and Rutgers is hosting Oklahoma State. Edited January 13, 2019 by SWINfan
SWINfan
Sunday January 13 - Results Nick Lee drops his first match of the season against #16 Tristan Moran of Wisconsin 12-10 SV2. Lots of scrambles in this one and Moran kept Lee from being able to finish most of his shots. Nick needed to change his approach in that match. He kept shooting for the single leg (which he finished well most of the time) but it was almost like Moran wanted him to do that. Moran pretty much only scored when defending Lee's shots and getting into scrambles or by reversing Lee after getting into scrambles. In non-Hoosier action, Daton Fix won 3-2 over Nick Suriano on a hands to the face penalty in SV2. The match lasted 40 minutes and had multiple stoppages/challenges, including two in the TB periods for potential locked hands (one not called and upheld, the 2nd called but reversed). Crazy drama in what was really a pretty boring match. Edited January 13, 2019 by SWINfan

SWINfan
Mason really struggled tonight against Chad Beard of Michigan State, holding him off for a 5-3 decision. Beard was a full size 285 and short and squatty, yet had quick feet and was pretty flexible. He fought off several Parris takedown attempts and was big enough to make Mason really work. Mason rode him the whole 3rd period to cement the win. On the flip side, Stevan Micic either got a FF or a really quick pin as I missed the match completely. His match added 6 points to Michigan's total, but I switched to the IU - Purdue match for a minute and them came back and they were already at 141. MattM
Chaos in the 133 top rankings. Gross out for the year. Fix over Suriano due to a controversial hand to face OT end after neither had any real offense in regulation. Dosantos over Suriano on a last second TD after getting some stalling points against him. Then Phillipi over Fix in close one. Micic has been the story of consistency lately. We will have to see if he can bring it home at NCAA’s. But he will have to run through a couple of these guys to do it.

SWINfan
Nick Lee wins the much anticipated rematch with Chad Red 5-4. Purdue and Michigan starting now... @133 Stevan Micic with a dominating 9-1 win over Ben Thornton. Micic was very strong riding but was only able to get 2 back points on a quick tilt. Had several others where he got 1 1/2 swipes but couldn't hold it. Nevertheless, there was no chance for Thornton on bottom. Micic moves to 8-0 on the season and will hold his #1 ranking. He may be the most boring wrestler ever and consistently pull out close victories over inferior opponents by the skin of his teeth, but he knows how to win. That said, I like Micic with Suriano close behind, despite Nick dropping two recently.
SWINfan
@174 Dylan Lydy drops a 5-3 decision to Myles Amine of Michigan. @285 Mason Parris with a tight 10-7 victory over Jacob Aven of Purdue. Parris got a little sloppy and gave up a take down in the 1st period and getting a little too aggressive in the 3rd trying to turn him and Aven slipped out and came through the bottom to reverse him. A nice win by Parris and Aven battled him hard.
