Our high school class of 2018 phenoms are killing it at Midlands this weekend.

Brayton Lee is wrestling unattached for Minnesota at 149 and took out Flo #'s 16 and 17. He then dropped a 3-2 quarterfinal decision to 157-lb national #6 Pantaleo of Michigan.

Lucas Davison is seeded #6 and rolled through his first two, including the #11 seed, before winning his quarterfinal over the guy who took out the #3 seed, perennial US Greco world-teamer, Joe Rau. He's got an unseeded guy who took out Flo #4 Warner of Iowa in the semi-finals.

Mason Parris is seeded #5 and smashed his first two guys before beating Flo #9 Hillger of Wisconsin, 9-6, in the quarters. He'll have the 8-seed Jennings of Northwestern in the semi's. The #1 seed, Stoll of Iowa, forfeited out in the quarters.

Based on seeds, Parris and Davison are both favored to be Midlands finalists as unattached true freshmen!! Let's do it!!

The kid Davison wrestles is Tanner Sloan...they wrestled at the Dream Team this April with Davison winning a close one.

There is also a rematch of the Dream Team in the blood round between Brayton Lee and Jacori Teemer.

I will take credit for Sloan’s success since he stayed at the Mattyb estate during the Dream Team Classic!

No really... the kid was a really humble country boy from a smaller school in Iowa. Don’t think he was nationally ranked at the end of the year. Just shows how smaller school kids can have success at the D1 level.

With that said... we will be rooting for Lucas 100 percent!

Teemer wins 9-7

For those of you that don't head to the College board, these results and the results of many other former IN HS wrestlers are posted in the thread titled IN Wrestler Results/Updates.  You're encouraged to visit, add results and comments throughout the season, not just during big events.

Mason's last match was a bummer. I'm not sure about the stalling calls against him. The kid from Northwestern was just laying on his hip. I'm not sure what else he could have done. In the end, the swipes for back points were a bit quick, like a makeup call for potentially missing them earlier. Either way, a great showing for Mason so far. Once he gets a little bigger and stronger, matches like this won't be close. He was clearly the better wrestler, just came up against a much bigger heavyweight that was hard to move at times.

Thomas Penola from Purdue (Zionsville) has also secured a podium spot.  Still wrestling for placement.  Knocked off class of 17 State Champ and CIA comrade Jacob Gray along the way.  Hate it for Jake....but glad to see he’s back rolling at an elite level after all the shoulder issues/surgery.

ever since he won the al Smith that year he knocked off like 5 top ranked kids his jr year he's never looked back!

Other results not mentioned here:

After having pinned nationally ranked Stencel of Central Michigan earlier this year, Parris gets the favor returned by Stencel and then ends up 5th after a FF win in the 5/6 matchup.

Lucas Davison with a big-time 6-4 win over Flo #6 Caywood to take 3rd place. Top 5 at 197 end up being 1. Flo #3, 2. unattached Sloan (who beat Davison in a tight one in the semi's, but whom Davison beat at Dream Team), 3. DAVISON, 4. Flo #6, 5. Flo #4. Great tournament for Davison!
