SWINfan
Do they stop after the quarterfinals and do the semis tomorrow? Is that the same for Al Smith and Brecksville as well? Does anyone know?

SIwrestling
Semifinals will be on mats 1 and 2 today starting at 9:30AM Central while consolation round 3 will be on mat 3. I believe Mater Dei has 10 in the semifinals, Union has 8, Father Ryan has 7. IMrule
SWINfan
Some matches/potential matches today that caught my eye... Not necessarily in any order. @106 There are two strong battles this morning in the semis. Undefeated Chris Newman of Mt. Vernon will be challenged by Tracye Eckman of Union Co. in one semifinal. Eckman is ranked #11 in Kentucky and this is Newman's chance to break into the IN State Rankings. He's at #5 in the Eville SS. MD's Alec Freeman will face Father Ryan's Brooks McAfee who is ranked #5 at 113 in Tennessee's D2 rankings. @113 the semifinals are solid as well. MD's Cole Ross faces another Father Ryan ranked wrestler, Calvin Eason #4 @106. Saw Eason once yesterday and he looked impressive. IL 3A #3 ranked Josh Koderhandt squares off with Gavin Alstott of Floyd Central. Barring one of the out of state guys breaking through, it will set up a finals of Ross/Alstott, ranked #s 1&2 in the Eville SS and #s 4 & 6 in the State. @126 A potential final between MD's Kane Egli and KY 2nd Ranked and State Runner Up Sam Bacon of Union Co looks like it could be a good one. @132 Franklin Community's Tyler Fuqua looks to break into the rankings against MD's Clay Egli in one semi. The other matches up provides nice fireworks with KY #2 Gabe Adams facing TN large class #2 @126 Luke Dezember. @138 in the consolations, Trey Mucker of Tell City faces a rematch with Louisville Trinity's Ty Lehman. Mucker won the pigtail battle 3-1 in a tight match. @145 MD's Matt Lee will likely have to beat two of Kentucky's best, facing #2 Nate Wheeler of St. Xavier and #3 Payne Carr of Union Co. That is unless undefeated Jonathan Kervin of Floyd Central decides otherwise. Kervin is ranked #8 in the State and #3 in the Eville SS. @152 Illinois 3A #4 Robert Major bumped up from 145 and will face MD's Eli Dickens in one semifinal. The other semi is another Tennessee vs. Kentucky battle. Father Ryan's Jacorey Miller is ranked #3 @145 and Union Co.'s Dalton Russellburg is #8 in KY. This weight gives us one ranked wrestler from 4 states in the semis. @160 Unseeded James Kraeszig drew a pigtail match against #1 seed Stephen Little of Union Co. Kraeszig won, setting up a tough consolation match between Little and MD's Gabe Sollars. In the championship bracket, Gibson Southern's Clay Singleton will look to represent Indiana facing Kraeszig who is ranked #5 @152 in KY. The other semifinal features two State ranked wrestlers, Logan Johnson 3A #6 in Illinois and Father Ryan's D2 #1 Lawrence Madson. Another 4 state championship round! @170 MD's Macartney Parkinson will have to earn a title today with two tough battles. He faces Father Ryan's #2 ranked Parker Peterson in the semifinal and if he advances, he'll likely face KY #1 Micah Ervin in the final. Sorry, I ran out of time to get to the other weights. Westling has begun! Edited December 29, 2018 by SWINfan Jayruss
SWINfan
Mater Dei jumps out quickly with two solid wins. @106 Alec Freeman won by fall over FR's McAfee. He'll face Union Co.'s Trayce Eckman who majored Chris Newman 13-3. @113 Cole Ross dominated with 7-0 decision. Josh Koderhandt of Belleville West prevented an Indiana state ranked matchup, winning by fall over Gavin Alstott. The 3rd period fall came with leading 6-2. @120 Blake Boarman gets a 1st period fall. @126 Kane Egli wins by fall. Will face Sam Bacon of Union Co. in the final. @132 Clay Egli won a tough 3-0 decision over Tyler Fuqua. He'll face Union Co.'s Gabe Adams. Adams majored Luke Dezember 12-2. @138 Blaine Mayer eked out a 3-2 decision over KY #5 ranked (at 132) Zach Pledger. In another UC vs MD battle, Mayer will face Trevor Pogue. SWINfan
@145 Matt Lee held serve with a 5-2 win over Nate Wheeler of St. X. He'll face Jonathan Kervin of Floyd Central in the final, who majored Union Co. Brave Payne Carr. Lee won by TF over Kervin in this event last year. Look forward to seeing how they match up this year. @152 Eli Dickens came out blazing with a take down in the first 8 seconds and cruised to a 14-4 win over IL State ranked Robert Major of Downers Grove South. He'll face Dalton Russelburg of Union Co. @160 Clay Singleton is stating his case for being ranked by downing James Kraeszig 3-1. He'll face Belleville West's Logan Johnson in the final. @170 Macartney Parkinson squeezed out a tough 4-2 win over Parker Peterson. He faces KY #1 ranked Micah Ervin of Union Co in the final. @182 North Posey's Nathan Willman dominated en route to the final. He'll face MD's Dakx Lannert who won a 15-9 dec over Tyler Hawhee of Tell City. Edited December 29, 2018 by SWINfan

SWINfan
@195 Mt. Vernon's Luke McGennis dropped a 3-2 decision to Harris Eason of Father Ryan. The final will match up Eason vs. Brendan Richardson of Downers Grove South. @220 It's an all KY final with Matthias Ervin and Ben Depriest of St. X. @285 Gibson Southern's Aaron Brievogel dropped a 5-1 decision to Father Ryan's Felix Wilson setting up a Tennessee vs. Illinois final. He was a SS Qualifier and lost to Blake Mulkey in the ticket round last year. What stood out to me is how long/tall he is. He got taken down initially by Carr and then dominated from that point. SWINfan
@132 Stream had issues for much of the match. Tight match but Clay Egli, down 3-2, gets a takedown wiith :22 left and back points to win 7-3 over Gabe Adams. @138 Trevor Pogue takes a 1-0 win over Blaine Mayer. An exciting, action filled match for 1-0! @145 Matt Lee won by Major over Jonathan Kervin of Floyd Central. This is one time where Kervin's length hurt him as Lee was too quick and consistently able to get the single leg and finish. Not sure how Kervin stacks up with others near the top of the state rankings, but he's definitely improved. @152 Eli Dickens comes out on fire and gets a takedown right away. He logs a workmanlike 11-4 decision over Union Co's Dalton Russelburg IMrule
