Graham Rooks was successful last night in getting his state title .. At Columbus East, he is a four time state placer including his state title run last night .. I believe he has 4-5 losses throughout his four year high school career .. Also is a multiple Academic Allstate selection ..I know Columbus East is not as popular as some other schools on here but I am not sure why he wasn’t selected for the award but should have been deeply considered.. ( Joe , I don’t know he wasn’t considered or was considered)

What other kids from other schools should have been in consideration for this award?? Atleast this post will recognize those kids and their accomplishments throughout their entire high school career ..

This isn’t intended to be a knock on the selection process but more of way to recognize some kids that don’t get the lime light as some others and their accomplishments..

The front runners are
Brayton Lee
Mason Parris
Lucas Davison
Kris Rumph
Graham Rooks

Others that have had great careers like Ty Mills, Kasper McIntosh, Christian Hunt, Nathan Walton, etc.

Remember this is an award for the best senior wrestler. The award is voted on by coaches and administrators throughout the state and well known wrestling media throughout the state and country. We usually have around 30+ people that vote in the end.

Thanks Joe , I had no clue how the award was selected or who was on the list on candidates.. All of the kids on the list are deserving .

My vote would go to Parris.  Three sport athlete, three state titles and a 3rd, record for most career falls in the state tournament, #1 ranked nationally.  Hard to argue against Lee, but he missed state his freshman year and is a one-sport specialist.  That's about the only difference between his and Mason's resume.

I think you are exactly right Mason had the 3rd place finish as a freshman to where Lee was beat it the ticket round to a dang good kid in Austin Bethal but that is the difference. Mason and Lee are both deserving of the award but Mason has the edge!!!
