Toughest semi-state???

wildcats2020

Recommended Posts

I think each year it varies.  This year I would say Evansville is the toughest.  I think most people would rather have to go through Ft Wayne.

By the numbers given to us about ranked kids per regional, each semi state has a possibility at the below ranked wrestlers

EC-69

FW-56

NC-76

EV-79

Topic that comes up every year.  No mean to offend anyone, just a bragging rights type thing for each semi state.  It will come up again after State to see which one brought home the most hardware

Perseverance,

Thank you for tabulating that for us.

i notice though that you have 6 at 145.   I think that weight class should be 2-1-1-1.

Also, I think 120 should be 3-0-1-1.  (At least I think Jimtown is in Ft.Wayne SS.)

And at 132, I think it should be 2-2-0-1.

if my calculations are correct, then I think the sums would then be 22-21-9-18.

Nice catch on the extra at 145. EV should only have 1.   All other numbers appear to be correct.

May be true, but some folks like comparing relative strengths of not only semi-states, but also regionals, sectionals, conferences, counties, regions, public vs PPs, state-to-state, class-to-class, recruiters vs non-recruiters, academy-to-academy, etc.

(Did I miss any?)

Yes it does matter.

Someone from evansville who may lose in the ticket round would be the favorite to win three other semi states.

Thats just an example. Happens every year. This year we see the parity going away from EV/NC and FW.

Thanks for calculating it!  It's all just bragging rights like was mentioned earlier.  It all varies by year and weight class.  Yes, in some instances kids would get to state if they went through another semi-state.  There is no perfect solution, easy answer is don't lose!  I liked the fact that I was able to win a strong semi-state, it meant that I did not have to draw into those guys when we went downtown.
