The gerrymandering in the south is ridiculous, the changes to Jeffersonville and Southridge make zero sense. You will literally have multiple schools passing each other on I-64 going the opposite direction for sectional. Look at a map and see how insane it is.

On the bright side The new Jeffersonville meat grinder will provide some great matches for the fans

I totally agree... this is the dumbest thing I have seen.

So southridge sectional was weakest in the south...so the ihsaa makes it stronger- great!

But in doing so they made the jeffersonville sectional arguably the weakest in the state!

Can the New Albany and Floyd Central kids switch homes with the Tell City kids Friday night before sectional?  There will be very little head to head for a couple of years as well. Hopefully Floyd County schools can get a nice boost in budget to cover the extra cost of travel. Was this an Obama or Trump proposal??

You mean to add to the travel budget Floyd central already makes to go to Edgewood, calumet, and mater dei during the season?

Castle and Central Sectionals, net effect:

The Castle sectional loses 10th place finisher Tell City and 3rd place finisher Reitz, in exchange for 10th place finisher Wood Memorial (Central sectional) and 9th place finisher Washington (Southridge sectional).

The Central sectional loses 10th place finisher Wood Memorial and 7th place finisher Pike Central in exchange for 3rd place finisher Reitz.

As a result, 5 of the top 7 teams of the 2017 Castle regional will be....at the Central sectional. The only way you could make the Castle sectional even weaker is to make the Knights compete at Central.

Ridiculous.

Speaking of Castle, who voted to move the regional to North? Castle sets the bar for hosting a tournament: great facilities, extremely organized, starts/ends on time, great concessions and outstanding volunteers.

Has North ever hosted a tournament?

North entered nine wrestlers in the sectional. Nine.

In the dual meet against Mater Dei, the Huskies brought six varsity wrestlers and zero jv wrestlers. Are they going to have enough volunteers to staff and run a regional?

Here's a novel idea-- let North host the SIAC or sectional. See how it goes for a couple of years, THEN let them host the regional. This is a case study of being set up to fail.

North hosts a 6 way tourney over the holidays, so I think they can get volunteers to run three mats for regional

The facilities look pretty decent. Having coached teams in regionals in jeffersonville, Bloomington south, and castle I think their facilities are comparable

As far as the number of their wrestlers in a mater dei dual, don't know if that matters in hosting a regional. Evansville central had 10 wrestlers entered in the sectional, but they do a great job hosting a sectional, probably would great at a regional also.

The IHSAA wasn't the one who came up with the new alignments. There was a group of around 20 coaches that met per the IHSAA and realigned the sectionals. I'd be curious to see who is on the committee as I'm sure you could find some interesting reasons for the shifts.

Great facilities? The restrooms are never kept up and the sewage smell almost makes me think I'm down by sewage facilities off waterworks.

If they can get pizza brought in by Roca Bar, then that's another upgrade(don't know if it'll be the size of your head though.)Other than that, their concession area is very very small.

Yes, their program is struggling, but that alone shouldn't disqualify the facility. Heck, maybe it'll throw an interest to some of the students.

Most importantly, you won't have to worry about the heckling from the paradise crew in regards to you westsiders coming up there, walking out with all the champs then leaving your Busch light cans everywhere.

This committee was comprised of one coach from each regional. As a representative of the Bloomington South regional, my purpose was to make our regional more competitive at the semi-state level. It was our goal as a committee to achieve a closer balance at the regional level. This was not an easy task to do, as there were many things to consider.

Nothing is perfect, but we did our best as a committee and there were reasons behind each change. I cannot speak on behalf of each regional because I was working directly with sectionals that could impact me.

They raised prices on Busch light...

Hamms light has a great taste for a reasonable price

Just goes to show how clueless the IHSAA is in regards to our sport. In our Sectional (17), they added Zionsville (2500 enrollment) to a Sectional where the next largest school has an enrollment of 650. I doubt any other Sectional has that big of a discrepancy.

Zionsville' enrollment is 1950, not 2500.

That's the point; central has a historically strong program with 20+ consecutive years of hosting a big event.
