maligned 722 Posted February 11, 2017 (edited) Returning state qualifier, #13 (SS #2) JC Herring of Oak Hill at 106 narrowly escapes a one-and-done situation against Jon-Matthew Spaw of East Noble, 9-8. 4 over 1 120 lb Vaughn of LC TF Greene of Lebanon 18-2 Another 4 over 1 was the "alternate" Conaway of Beech Grove at 113 with the 1-0 6-4 victory over Holman of Carmel. A little misleading here, though, since 5 of the top 6 semi-state ranked kids were all from the same regional (4 from the same sectional) and Holman wasn't one of those while Conaway was. Another tough first-rounder: #15 (SS #2) Byman of Carroll at 126 just holds off SS #7 Rasler of Prairie Heights, 8-7 Edited February 11, 2017 by maligned

SWINfan 681 Posted February 11, 2017 Why does alternate Jacob Prince move into the #1 spot for Victor Artunez at 113 in Evansville? Why would somebody that didn't qualify, move into the #1 slot instead of moving everyone up and taking the #4 slot from Jeffersonville?

dad2cash 51 Posted February 11, 2017 (edited) Yeah. Justice was winning 2-1 and the Ref hit him with second stalling for throwing up . Otherwise match would have ended that way. I'm not one to complain but that kid has been sick for a while and pushed himself and did what he needed to get through. He should have just vomited on the mat . I'm still proud he gave it his all.
