Team competition seems way down from what this tournament use to be.

If anything the team competition is stronger than it use to be. They have been doing a great job of eliminating teams that have a lot of forfeits and trying to bring in solid teams. I see this tournament stronger team-wise now than back in the 2000s and late 1990s.

I agree the team depth is more.  I think when people are saying the team race is "down", it's because there are only a couple top 10 teams and the favorite is only #5 in the state.  There have been years with a couple Top 5 teams and four in the Top 10, giving the appearance of a stronger team race.  But if you compare the 10th and 20th best teams in the field to 15 years ago, for example, it's gotten stronger in terms of that depth.

I think Colton Cummings will get a #1 seed

 

last year champ should. there will be lower placing al smith kids from 2015 seeded ahead of al smith finalists and champs from 2015. that's... well... ridiculous. can't ever remember a tournament that used a different event as #1 criteria. unless it was a first year event or event qualifier
