Y2CJ41 Posted May 16, 2016 Share Posted May 16, 2016 I can ask. Topics don't mean much. A lot of the topics on here are weekly camp "advertisements" or have 1-2, a small handful of responses. They're not real discussions. There are topics on the GID that go on for hundreds of pages and last a year before new ones are started for the sake of loading speeds. They are going to have longer topics because that is all their website is. Their topics include scores and such, things that can be found in our results area or rankings areas. Also the NIC had a new topic each week to talk about the games that week. Some of those had over 100 posts. I wasnt asking you but thanks for not looking. My goal is not to replace Indiana Mat or others but to make it easier for others to find them in a central location. The staff here has a great site and manages it excellently. I know others are struggling but they do great jobs as well. Like I said, it's about promoting all the sports and athletes in our communities. As much as I've hated on the IHSAA, they have done one thing right by teaming with Special Olympics and such. I encourage everyone to look up the combined track and field page of the IHSAA. The site is easy enough to find for those who are interested in finding it. Your members are knowledgeable and passionate about wrestling. I don't think most of us want football fans coming here trying to solve all our problems like we are clueless about our own sport. This is kind of a silly debate to have because I don't think anyone is under the impression wrestling is more popular than football at the high school level. The disparity stands to reason, but another interesting comparison to gauge activity/participation would be to look at post counts and years active since account registration. The GID has hundreds of users with well over 1k posts and hundreds more that have been active for 5+ years. I'd be curious to know how many IM has comparably? It's why the Olympics almost dropped the (one of?) oldest sport in the games. You should be engaging as many people as you can. Now is a particularly good time with all the bad coverage surrounding football and CTE. Wrestling is a great sport with a lot of ancillary benefits, promote it. Comparing messageboard activity is fine, but we are way more than a messageboard and have been since day numero uno. What do we really have to offer in this area. Many athletes left when the RV industry took a dive. The rest is small farming communities with older populations. I have no involvement with football. I'm not going to go to Gridiron Digest and tell them how they should try to get Sectionals seeded and fix the success multiplier.
