KarlHungus
Murphy will come in as the favorite with his 43-2 record and #3 state ranking. Murphy has already defeated Garcia twice this year. 1-0 and a 41 second pin, Garcia has caught fire since getting 2nd last week in Evansville. Garcia has beaten Walendzak of Cathedral, Curtis of Yorktown and Cavanaugh of Penn to run his record to 35-6. Murphy has defeated Casebolt of Castle, Wells of Jimtown and MIlls of Brownsburg. Mills was last year's runner up. Murphy's record is 43-2. Edited February 20, 2016 by KarlHungus

Novice Bat
Murphy is struggling to hold the large leads this tournament and Garcia has been solid in close matches.
Brown boys
At least 3 of Garcias losses were to Mills. Tough schedule, good kid, great grinder. I take Garcia and the Under.

rdrodd1
I remember not too long ago when a young stud had a quick takedown on a future Big 10 wrestler and decided to cut him right out of the gate. It came back to haunt him really quick as well. Great job Mr. Garcia. TeamGarcia

MatChick76
I liked him from the start. It was exciting to see him get the win and for Evansville Semi State to claim the first champ of the night! Looking forward to watching your high school wrestling journey! MatChick76
Question: Asa didn't win Sectional, Regional, or Semi-State. Is he the only State Champ this year to not be Sectional, Regional, or Semi-State champ? How many times has this happened over the years?

NavyGonzo
Question: Asa didn't win Sectional, Regional, or Semi-State. Is he the only State Champ this year to not be Sectional, Regional, or Semi-State champ? How many times has this happened over the years? Last I can remember was Steve Stahl from Elkhart memorial. I believe he lost to Ryan Konrath at Sectional, regional, and Semi-State, and went on to win it all. Edited February 22, 2016 by NavyGonzo

Is he the only State Champ this year to not be Sectional, Regional, or Semi-State champ? How many times has this happened over the years? Steve Stahl is a recent one. Even more interesting was that his opponent in the finals Marcus Shrewsbury beat Stahl's nemesis Ryan Konrath in the quarters and Stahl beat Shrewsbury's nemesis Jake Salas in the quarters. Also that season Stahl beat Bellmont's Billy Baker in the ticket round...Baker went on to win state the next year.
