maligned
It depends on your definition of "best." If the "best" has the most state qualifiers or placers, I'd say Perry might end up being that. If you mean deepest, though, Mooresville and North Montgomery are clearly separated from the rest of the state in terms of having the most semi-state first round talent or better at each weight. For Team State regional strength calculations, we use this second definition because it's the determinant of how difficult it is to advance on to semi-state. Using every team's current season Genius rating, we can project how many semi-state caliber guys there are per weight class at each regional. We have the top 5 regionals like this: Mooresville: 6.1 semi-state or better guys per weight class N. Montgomery: 5.7 Castle: 4.9 Perry Meridian: 4.9 Carroll: 4.

busstogate
Outside of a few Penn locks, there seems to be a lot of parity in the Rochester regional. Goshen will have a lot of dogfights, also.
LetsWrastle
Jay County features Bellmont, Yorktown, Delta, and AC. Definitely not a cakewalk as far as an individual standpoint goes. busstogate
Purple_Papa
Here are some data on Regionals and Top 20 Ranked Wrestlers. The number of Top 20 wrestlers in each Regional, The Average Ranking of those Top 20 Wrestlers, and A rough estimate of the overall Strength of the Region (basically something like Num x Avg Rank) with the Number and Average, in order. maligned
Here's a writeup from a few years ago about how they're compiled. http://indianamat.com/index.php/page/articles.html/_/high-school-news/genius-ratings-version-20-r299 If you go to the "information" tab and click on "teams," you can find every team's Genius POTENTIAL rating. In terms of the discussion on this "toughest regional" thread, I mentioned it in the context of its use in evaluating regionals' depth. We compiled every result from every school for the last several years during the state tournament series and use data analysis tools to derive predictions of how many semi-state qualifiers teams from average-level regionals should earn at given Genius levels. We can add these totals together by regional to estimate the expected depth of semi-state level talent in each regional. Discussion, a graph of expected regional and semi-state qualifiers by given Genius levels, and this year's sectional and regional Category assignments are in the Team State Qualifying procedures document here: https://sites.google.com/site/inwrestlingcoaches/news/selection2016 Edited February 6, 2016 by maligned
