Coach Brobst
A couple takeaways from the brackets (should be online soon): 106: Denny (MON) is the favorite but has stiff competition starting in the semis against Pitzulo of Franklin. The winner faces the winner of CG's Petro, Sego (IC) or Overton (GW). Add this to a mean 106 at Avon next weekend and you'll have a great start to your day! 113: Mosconi (IC) is undefeated but will face a stiff test with CG's Pruett or Geremia Brooks (WL) in the finals. Mooresville's Spencer Cox will also compete for placing in order to not win the wrestle Nick Weaver in Round 1 sweepstakes. 120: Artesian Keaton Fisher looks to be on a collision course with CG's Siddiqui for the final, but Mooersville's Ethan Wymer, Whiteland's Austin Denien, aand Plainfield's LJ Burdon all look to upset the favorites and stake their claim to a 1 or 2 for the Regional. 126: This final could be a thing of beauty with Plainfield's Isaac Gomez meeting up with Super Soph Tony Mosconi (IC). Franklin's Gavin Frost and a slew of other competitors will make the chase for 3/4 a thing of beauty. 132:By far, the most wide open weight in the tournament. Literally 7 of the 9 entered wrestlers could place or even win it. This will be a fun one to watch. 1 seed is CG's David Roth, but how's this for Parity?: He only beat Mooresville's Michael Craig 5-3 in a dual (Craig is the 6 seed). Craig beat IC's Weltich, who beat Whiteland's Jake Perry, who split with Craig, who split with Martinsville's unseeded Dexter Grubb. Throw in a GW Sophomore in Jake Schrader who is the 2 seed and three seed Maclennan from Franklin and you have yourselves a competition! 138: Trevor Reese of Franklin is the prohibitive favorite, but Tyler Summers, fellow Mid-State conference champ, returns from 132 to challenge for the title. Also in the mix will be CG's Anthony Williams, Martinsville's Cody Drake, IC's Brad Trietsch, and Mooresville's Wes Kost. 145: Logan Coyle and Shane Wilkerson look to be on a path to collide, but Whiteland's Matthias Ebeyer and Mooresville's Jake Hawkins will also be in contention. 152: Elijah Dunn is the overwhelming favorite here but he will have to face a slew of talented individuals to maintain his spot atop the Podium starting with Decatur's only returning Semi-State qualifier Jaylen Adkins or possibly Martinsville's Connor Dean, who have split matches this year. Monrovia's Ethan Stock and Franklin's Matt Ahlefeld are also contenders to move on. 160: The top 5 here are really solid: Cayden Whitaker, Burk Van Horn (co-favorites, have split matches), Mappes (State Qualifier last year), Tommy Copeland, and Eli Stock. That's less than 20 combined losses right there and they're all at the same weight! 170: Ethan Runyan narrowly edged the 1 seed from CG's Jonah Hays and Franklin's Jake Moore, who nabbed 2 and 3 respectively. The fourth spot will be up for grabs between Joseph Clevenger of IC, Andrew Sanders of Mooresville, or Zach Boles of Monrovia. The winner of the first round between Sanders and Clevenger would likely have the upper hand. 182: Another WIDE OPEN weight! Plainfield Junior Danny Reams, previously at 170 and before that 160, bumps up again to take the one seed at 182. He looks to be challenged by all kinds of wrestlers with the likes of IC's Grant Goforth, Franklin's Alez Zollman, Monrovia's Aaron Cravens, GW's AJ Montgomery, and CG's Rhett Mappes being the most likely contenders, albeit the pigtail matches at this weight ought to be downright dog fights as well and any one of them could wrestle right with Goforth or Reams as the 1 and 2 seeds. It'll be a doozy! 195: The number one seed here may be the biggest stone cold lock I've seen in the brackets with Monrovia's Garrison Lee. 2-6 all have chances to see him at some point with Franklin's Alvey being the 2 seed ready to square off with the winner of Plainfield's Kammerer or Mooresville's Comer (who fought a tight one at conference). Lee will see either Byrd (CG) or Ballard (GW) in the semi's. 220: For the third time this year, Artie Scroggs will likely face Bulldog McCubbins, with Scroggs having pinned the McCubbins with both of his losses on the year. CG's Heinrich's is a strong competitor as well and Franklin's Manny Cheam looks to be a VERY strong 4th wrestler (who could beat any of the top three). 285: Franklin's York is a very strong favorite over the 2 seed McCubbins of Monrovia and the 3 Lewis of CG. In the semi's he'll face the winner of Mooresville's Dane Smith and Plainfield's Ernesto Mariscal (Smith has won both previous meetings in OT). brodygrant and Loki27

Coach Brobst
106: Denny, Overton, Reams, Petro 113: Mosconi, Brooks, Cox, Pruett 120: Fisher, Capps, Siddiqui, Burdon 126: Gomez, Mosconi, Clark, Skirvin 132: Summers, Roth, Maclennan, Schrader 138: Reese, Williams, Trietsch, Drake 145: Coyle, Wilkerson, Ebeyer, Tran 152: Dunn, Dean, Stock, Copeland 160: Vanhorn, Whitaker, Mappes, Stock 170: Hays, Runyon, Moore, Boles 182: Reams, Cravens, Mappes, Goforth 195: Lee, Kammerer, Ballard, Byrd (No Hammond? he had some matches this year coming back from injury) 220: Scroggs, Heinrichs, McCubbins, Curtis 285: York, McCubbins, Lewis, Smith (No Biddle? Injury?) A couple of quick notes on your predictions: 1) At 120, Capps is out 2) Summers is at 138, not 132 3) Hammond is out. Only wrestled the last tourney of the year, not sure the reason he is out for the tourney. 4) Biddle is also out with a torn Pectoralis.

brodygrant
I love the feedback! What was the issue during the regular season with Hammonds from Whiteland, I heard it was knee injury but no confirmation?
sslaymon
Looks like Mooresville has loaded the brackets up to 195 so far at 11:30. I would imagine they'll be completed to HWT here shortly. Ryan suffered an ACL tear during summer football camp. He wasn't cleared to practice/wrestle until the past weekend.
brodygrant
sslaymon, thanks for the information. I hate to hear that for the kid, that's an injury that hard to come back from, depending on how bad the tear was. It's hard because you have to get past the trust issue with the knee first. Good luck to him in the future!
