Mater Dei Classic

I'm shocked that Keller was thrown to the wolves at 152. Myself, I think Bethel had a better chance to win it at 152. I haven't seen Foster from Belleville since last year so not sure on him other than I know he's ranked fairly decently in Illinois. I have seen all the Ky wrestlers and Oxford is extremely tough. He pinned Barton( who I believe was ranked #1) at the Harrison 10 way. Then Barton won a close one against Williams. If I were to guess, I'd say Oxford vs Foster in finals with Oxford winning.

Jourdan has a tough task to win. He's got to get past Vanhorn 1st them he'll have Hudson Heidorf. Not saying that he can't do it, cause if anyone could do it, it would be him. Best of luck to him.

106- Garcia

113- White

120- Ervin

126- Bass (dilbeck looks tough this year but I think bass takes him)

132- Red (pin his way threw)

138- Reese (look out for Ervin that kid is one tough 8th grader)

145- Lee

152- Foster

160- Heidorf (looked very impressive last year and this year)

170- Buckman (Mosley could pull it out if he shows up to wrestle)

182- Sonner (if he shows up to wrestle)

195- Frankrone (toughest weight imo anyone could win)

220- Larson (Choate has looked tough all year as well)

285- York (though I think Klem is someone to watch out for and could easily pull of a upset)

Seth worked too hard making weight..... He's been 45 up to this meet. He was spent before the day started. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully better!

Should probably stay at 145 if he is spent before he starts. Sometimes cutting can hurt more than help

Day 1 wrapped up with not a lot of surprises other than what's been posted.

Day 2 will be a barn burner in just about every weight class semis. It almost seems like this tournament gets better every year.

Can't wait till tomorrow

2 things not already mentioned, that stood out to me...

145 - Shane Wilkerson lost by fall in the first round.  I suspect he'll fight back through the consolation bracket to place.

138 - Micah Erwin - How old is he?  The brackets list him as an 8th grader.  Did he finish 5th at the MD Classic last year as a 7th grader or is that a mistake?

Here's the semi final match ups

106-Asa Garcia(Av) vs Jared Diep(NP)

Kaleb Hinderliter(EMD) vs Nate Wheeler(SX)

Garcia is probably the favorite here, but don't sleep on the #2 ky ranked Wheeler.

Also loved how Hinderliter stepped up since Egli was out.

113-Alec White(NP)vs Logan Johnson(BW)

Konner Kraeszig(SX)vs Seth Horty(EM)

White is clear favorite. Horty is having a great year

120-Saul Ervin(UC)vs Mason Miranda(Av)

Levi Miller(NPo)vs Kyle Luigs(EMD)

Saul is tough but Luigs may have what it takes to win this one.

126-Logan Dillbeck(GS)vsJoe Happe(EMD)

Harley Gorman(MV)vs Garrett Bass(BW)

132-Chad Red(NP)vs Tristan Sellmar(FC)

Keegan Duncan(TR)vs Bryce Sheffer(UC)

Ky #1vs Ky #2. Winner gets Country's best 132lb

138-Trevor Reese(Fr)vs Jalyn Wallace(NP)

Wyatt Montgomery(EMD)vs Micah Ervin(UC)

Don't let his 8th grade status fool you. Wallace looked dynamic on day 1.

145-Joe Lee(EMD)vs Chance Oxford(UC)

Austin Bethel(MV)vs Jared Timberman(NP)

Lee is heavy favorite, but any 4 of these guys could win.

152-Jackson Oxford(UC)vs Eugene Starks(NP)

Benjamin Barton(Tr)vs Nick Foster(BW)

Exciting weight class

160-Hudson Heidorf(TR)vs Charles Dickens(NA)

Burk Vanhorn(FR)vs Blake Jourdan(EMD)

Van Horn looked unstoppable day 1

170-Avery Buckman(UC)vs Chris Spiller(FC)

Jake Moore(FR)vs Caden Hubner(Av)

182-Jayden Sonner(NA)vs Karl Hauser(FC)

Seth Orth(EMD)vs Connor Brown(EM)

195-Tyler frankrone(TR)vs Kurtis Wilderman(EMD)

Landon Burton(NP)vs Elijah Allegier(SX)

Frankrone is a beast, but Wilderman is a great athlete. Should be good

220-Gunnar Larson(AV)vs Manny Cheam(FR)

Connor Sherman(UC)vs Tristen Choate(MV)

285-Quinn York(FR)vsWade Ripple(MV)

Brett Henson(AV)vs Cory Klem(GS)

York has to be clear favorite here.

We get all that for $8 and that's not even the finale, nor the wrestle backs.
