Stevenson with a nice 9-0 gold medal win in the finals to cap off a solid US Cadet Freestyle 3rd place showing. The team finished with 3 golds and 2 bronze for the event.

To be clear...Steveson (younger brother and Apple Valley, MN, teammate of Indiana state champ Bobby Steveson) won gold and the US team finished 3rd.  He was a stud for sure...along with Diakomihalis, Verkleeren, and Fix, who are all very, very impressive for their age.

I was reading some more comments on national boards.  Gable's performance was very, very special.

The Cadet division nationally is ages 15-17 and Steveson is only a first-year cadet.  As a first-year kid, he went through a loaded random-draw 220-pound bracket in which he had to beat the best future heavyweights from Top 5 international powers Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Russia before even making it to the gold-medal final against an Uzbek kid (representing yet another nation renowned for big-guy talent) that was somehow simultaneously taller and twice as thick as him.  And he dismantled him, 9-0.

It's obviously working out great for the Steveson family for them to be at a wrestling environment like Apple Valley, but I can't help but wish he'd still be here!
