Yes this one was well received and the other proposal that had a chance but ultimately fell through was the one that would allow a alt at say 152lbs on your sectional entry list enter in at a weight class above the one weight class up limit, if the wrestler was legal based on his weigh in that morning.

sure....

the proposal was to allow a alt wrestler that you had listed on your sectional entry list (which must be turned in weeks before the sectional) to move up more than one weight class for the sectional.

So say you had a Alt at 126lbs on your sectional entry list.  before sectionals you learn your 138lber is out for whatever reason.  The way it states now your wrestler you have listed at 126lbs as alt could not jump into the sectionals at the 138lbs spot because he would be moving up two weights from what he was entered on the sectional roster.

Our proposal was to allow the wrestler you had listed on your roster at 126lbs the chance to step into the lineup at 138lbs as long as he had a legal weigh-in the morning of sectionals.  A legal weigh in to qualify the wrestler listed at 126lbs on the roster would be 128.1.  So the rule you can only wrestle up one weight based on what you weigh in would remain.

Any idea how close this came to passing?  If it was close, will it be proposed again next year?

It should be noted if you look over the minutes from the IHSAA about 99% of the time the votes are 17-0 in one way or the other. Basically the decision is made before the meeting on whether or not the proposal will pass. In like 2005 or 2007 we almost had wrestlebacks where we were basically one or two votes from it passing.

I am referring the the feedback Danny and I got when we proposed in front of the board.  Several showed interest in this proposal during the presentation as well as Mr Faulkens talking about this possible change in the future.  So even though it was voted down i see this as a possible change that could happen in the future if we proposed this again.  But what we propose falls onto the membership.  What they want to go with is what I will propose when its our turn to do so again.
