navy80
Last year the Northview Sectional dominated the Southridge Sectional but it doesn’t appear it will be that way this year! This year the Bl. South regional is down but they will still send a few to state. Koontz, Schermer, Dull, and Hunt are a sure lock to make it to state. McCoy, Barlow, Dalton, and Songer have an outside shot. Semi state ranked wrestlers are below Hunt BS 36-0 #1 @ 106 Hurst JA 30-5 #10 @ 120 Lewis THS 29-8 #6 @ 126 Schermer BS 32-3 #3 and McCoy NV 36-6 # 6 @ 132 Dull THN 25-4 #2 and Barlow BS 32-8 #8 @ 145 Koontz ED 36-0 #1 @ 160 Webb BS 31-8 #7 @ 170 Dalton BN 36-3 #6 @ 182 and Duregger NV 29-10 @ 182 Songer JA 25-5 #3 at 195 Dixon BS 30-13 #8 at 220 106: Hunt BS 33-0 looks to be the clear favorite. He should meet up with Meyerholts SR 38-7 or Sullivan ED 27-14 in the finals. McGlothin BN 22-14 looks to battle it out for 3rd place with the loser of Meyerholtz/Sullivan/ 113: Last year Stull BS 25-11 beat Pemberton THS 32-6 in the Sectional Championship match. This year Pemberton won in the finals. These two should meet for a Regional title for the rubber match! Gosney BN 27-11 and Ray BNL 23-5 will battle for 3rd. 120: Hurst JA 30-5 is the defending regional champ at 106 and is the favorite again, but don’t count out Cook NV 35-5 who is having an exceptional year. Two first round barn burners include super tough Patton CC 36-4 against Stillions BS 27-16 both of whom won sectionals last year and went to semi state. Bromser FP 31-13 faces Koening THS 19-17 in the other tough first round matchup. 126: Lewis THS 29-8 is a defending regional champ and will have his work cut out for him in the finals against Jasper’s Tommy Brock 22-8. Dalton BN 23-13 and Fleck FP 25-12 will battle for third. 132: Schermer BS 32-3 is the clear favorite and has beaten McCoy NV 36-6 several times in the last two years but each time has been a decision. Will McCoy get his vengeance when it matters most? Look for Schermer and McCoy to punch their ticket to state in Evansville. Third place will be between sectional champ Glenn FP 32-15 and newcomer Bedwell SU 26-8. 138: This looks to be the deepest weight class with several key first round matchups. Grissom MI 26-3/Webb BS 21-13 will battle to face Hannah ED 34-5 in the semifinals. Gibson NV 32-10 will face a tough freshman from SR Kane 31-16 for the chance to wrestle two time semi state qualifier Koerner WA 30-6. Don’t count out Williams from THS 22-11 to upset Koerner first round. 145: Dull THN 25-4 and Barlow BS 32-8 will battle for a third time in the finals. Dull pinned Barlow once this year and their second match got cut short with a Barlow injury. Look for the winner of this match to punch their ticket to the state finals! Eckert JA 14-10 will face the winner of Rogier FP 32-9 and Aydelott ED 26-14 for third place. 152: Mundy SR 33-3 looks to surpass his older brother with a regional championship. Standing in his way is experienced grappler from Edgewood Blake 26-10. Blake has probably the state’s best practice partner in Koontz. Agular NK 35-7 should battle Fleck FP 29-13 for third place. 160: When you make the cut to be in the commercial for the best high school camp in the nation you know you are a somebody. Gabe Koontz ED 37-0 looks continue his dominance with another regional title. Koontz will meet a wrestler he is familiar with in the finals in Hay BS 25-18. Don’t count out his 18 losses because B. South wrestles one of the toughest schedule in the state. Rominger PA 13-9 and Inman BN 28-13 will battle for third. 170: Joey Thomas of NK 36-4 showed he can compete with the best when he pinned Webb of BS 31-8. Webb recently went a one point match with Koontz. 170 is the deepest in this regional and will produce four solid wrestlers onto semi state. Cole Kreilin JA 24-8 has been to semi state two times in his career and looks to make it a third trip. Webb and Kreilin will meet up in the semifinals (Webb won by pin in their last meetin). The other semifinals will be between Thomas and Hendrich NV 32-6. My upset is Hendrich beats Thomas and then beats Webb to calim a regional title. This weight class is truly a pickems! 182: Dalton BN 36-3 should meet up with Harter SR 35-8 in the finals. If Tedrow MI 19-3 and Smith JA 22-9 can slip past their tough first round matchups they will battle for third. 195: Jasper’s Ian Songer 25-5 made it to semi state as a sophomore but not as a junior. He will be the favorite and has already beaten BN Wade 21-9 earlier in the year 8-2. Bringing up the rear will be Wilson ED 20-12 and Nordhoff SR 23-14. 220: Short of WV 24-2 is the clear favorite but don’t count out Washington’s Meade 31-6 or Sullivan’s Williams 25-8. The fourth place finisher will be between two super tough sophomores Michel SR 22-10/Rivera THS 24-7. 285: the young and large sophomore from THN looks to win his first of many regionals. Dwyer THN 27-6 will battle England MI 24-6 in the finals. Miller NK 29-8 and Hancock SU 29-7 will fight to not get a regional champ at semi state. randalllynch and hook and half

Sunrise
126 David Lewis in a tight matchup David Lewis Terre Haute South Tommy Brock Southridge Drew Dearing Southridge James Archer Bloomington Sout Tommy Brock is from Jasper. I was at Southridge Sectional and I wasn't a fan of the call at the end of Mundy's match. I would have liked to see them battle it out in OT
chris2665
Cook is ranked 6th in semi-state at 120. He must have inadvertently been left out.

mhscoach
Grissom from Mitchell was injured in the finals at Southridge. After talking it over with him it was decided to drop him from the regionals. He's running at Rose-Hulman next year, he's a state qualifier in the 300hurdles...it was in his best interest to step aside and press forward. Hardest decision I've had to make as his coach and his father. Steve Grissom, Mitchell High School Coach
AnyDING
100% agree with you as a Coach/DAD..I'm originally from Mitchell. We now live up on Southside of Indy.I was just curious since I've been following Mitchell's TEAM success this year and I noticed he advanced but didn't wrestle @ regional
