markio
It's that time of year again and I wanted to share some info that might come in handy, especially for those that might be attending an event for the first time at the Ford Center. If you have any additional questions just let me know, I'm the one who represents the venue for this event and all other events at the arena. I'm a huge wrestling fan and am only posting this so you don't get hassled or are surprised by any of the rules, etc. I truly look forward to this event every year. - Parking and general information about the arena can be found at www.thefordcenter.com - The main entrance is located on Main St. - Wrestlers and coaches will enter at the interior ticket lobby doors located to the right of the main entrance doors. - Doors will open up at 8am CST. Prices and times are listed on www.IHSAA.org, so go there if you don't already have that info. - No outside food or drinks are allowed through the front doors. Any and all team coolers must enter at the wrestler/coaches entrance and taken to the locker room area and need to stay there. If they are taken to the stands the ushers will ask you to take them back to the locker room area. - We will have full concessions available throughout the day. Coffee and hot chocolate are also available all day as well. (get the bbq pork nachos, huge and awesome) - Please do not climb over the dasher walls! Wrestlers and coaches have a specific entrance on to the floor so please use that one. - There is no on-site parking for teams or attendees. Again, parking info can be found on our website. - There is no smoking on or in the Ford Center property, this includes e-cigarettes. - There is NO "public" Wi-Fi available. The available connections you will see listed if you look are for Ticketmaster and other various systems. - If you set up a camcorder it must be out of the aisles and all cords must be taped down to avoid tripping hazards. If you need some tape just ask an usher and we can help you out. - Brackets will be updated throughout the day and posted on several of the 170 or so TVs located all over the arena. The brackets end up kind of small, but hey, they are everywhere and pretty cool. - Lastly, if you are a wrestler that loses please don't kick, throw, or punch Ford Center property. We had a kid break off a door handle last year. Sent the bill to the school. That's all I have for now. If I think of anything else I will update this post. Like I said, let me know if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!!

piratefan
I believe the Ford Center is a real treat for the wrestlers and their families... For those that do not make it through to state, it is a real joy because it is very much like going to Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Last year, it was packed on the side seating and it was still comfortable and fun...
1prouddad
Yes, a $128,000,000 dump. Is that why everything is so darn expensive in there
piratefan
I think everything is so expensive because of the IHSAA setting the ticket price?
1prouddad
I think everything is so expensive because of the IHSAA setting the ticket price? ticket prices for that type of venue that last the majority of the day is not bad at all. It's just everything once you get inside. JMO

alcorntr
If you are willing to drive back to the west side, try this new pizza joint owned by for Mater Dei HWT Brad Nemeier...azzipizza. Located on Pearl Drive (Across from Penn St and next to Spudz N Stuff)...in less than 15 mins you have a personal made pan pizza to go. You pick the sauce, toppings, etc (just like ordering at Subway).

Newbomb Turk
I would guess since first round is at 9, that the ticket round would be 11:15/11:30ish. Semis approx 2pm.
SWINfan
Can't beat Turoni's!! Is the bar right across the street from the Ford Center still open? Can't remember the name, but it was a good atmosphere and pretty good food. About 50-100 yards from the main entrance... And one big BOOOOO on no public Wi-Fi! The only times I have been in that building (4 or 5), the regular cell service sucked for multiple companies.
Newbomb Turk
I heard that all the semi state sites will be blocking public wi fi to keep the track wrestling from crashing
