H.S. WRESTLING: Castleberry, Jolley-Little win Jeff Classic titlesBy GREG MENGELT 12/22/2013 1:27 AM

New Albany 145-pounder and Jeffersonville heavyweight Gavan Jolley-Little each dominated their weight classes en route to Jeff Classic championships on Saturday.

Castleberry earned two pins and a technical fall on his way to the championship match at 145 pounds. In the championship, he defeated Bloomington South’s Brennan Barlow 3-1 for the title.

The New Albany junior is now 15-0 on the year.

Jolley-Little improved to 12-0 with three easy victories and an overtime triumph in the championship match on Saturday. After winning his first match by forfeit, the Red Devils senior pinned Northview’s Brennan Pilman in 1:55 and defeated Male’s Jeremy Fow in 45 seconds. He then defeated Gus Dajani 2-1 in overtime to take the crown.

New Washington’s Franklins were both runners-up on the day. Mustang freshman Noah Franklin earned a pin, a major decision and a 9-3 victory en route to the 106-pound title match, where he was beaten by Bloomington South’s Logan Dilbeck 16-6. At 160 pounds, Jacob Franklin earned two pins before beating St. X’s Dominic Lampe 5-4 in the semifinals. Madison’s Jordan Partee took the title, however, with a 12-6 win over the New Wash senior. Behind the Frnaklins’ strong finishes, the Mustangs came in 12th as a team.

Stephen Jones and Chase Thompson finished third at 113 and 195 pounds, respectively, for host Jeffersonville, which placed 11th as a team. Thompson pinned New Albany’s Dalton Mowery in 4:28 in the third-place match. Tre Lynch came in third at 152 pounds for the Bulldogs, who were ninth as a team.

Charlestown’s Bryant Haynes finished third in the 126-pound class and Josh Hurley was fourth at 220 for the Pirates, who placed 13th.
