MattM Posted September 8, 2013 Share Posted September 8, 2013 It is important to note that wrestling was only keep as a provisional sport for the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. The IOC upheld the decision to remove wrestling from the Core sports list. After that would need to complete this whole process over again to remain in the games. That is unless at some point in the future the IOC decide to have another vote which could let wrestling back into the Olympic Core sports, and move to remove another sport from that group. A good victory for our sport, but it came at the expense of a few weight classes (now 6GR, 6FR, 6WMFR), and with the knowledge that we have another battle to prepare for in the future. Dingo Brigade Posted September 8, 2013 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Not a full victory, but a nice one. Attending the London Olympics freestyle competition is one of the highlights of my life. No other sporting event comes close, not even the USA Olympic Team Trials. If you ever get the chance to go, I can't recommend it enough.
