The first event, named Agon 1 - The Revolution, will take place at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday, October 27, 2013. The main event will feature the undefeated Bellator MMA welterweight champion, two-time NCAA champion, and 2008 U.S. Olympian, Ben Askren, against another two-time NCAA champion and four-time NCAA All-American wrestler, Quentin Wright. More matches are set to be announced. A live Internet pay-per-view of Agon 1 - The Revolution is also being planned to be shown on FloWrestling.org. Definition of Agon "What would the world be without the agon -- the agonistics of one man against another -- to show everyone the order of precedence among men, just as no two other things on earth are alike? How could any of us alive know quality if competition and personal combat did not let all the world know who embodies excellence and who merely manages mediocrity?" —Odysseus, OLYMPOS
ENoblewrestling
This seems like a cool concept. Does Agon have a website? I was able to find info out on mma sites, and some wrestling sites, but no stand alone Agon site.

Fabio Jr.
could be cool! will never reach the popularity of MMA. its easy to watch and understand a fist fight. With wrestling there is much more nuance that needs to be explained and understood to be truely appreciated. With MMA you see a dude get his face kicked in you immediatly understand whast going down. And we would finally have a World Folkstyle Championship
Y2CJ41
The rules aren't exactly folkstyle. More of folkstyle in neutral and freestyle on the mat.

Ds Dad
Wasn't there a try at this many years ago? For some reason I'm remembering a raised mat being involved. Seems like it was in the late 80's or early 90's.
