AND...Columbus East and Avon showed up to the fight for a state championship while EMD stayed home. EMD won the Perry Meridian Duals...Columbus East and Avon are state champs and state runner-ups, I think those young men will be OK with that.

Very close between Avon and Columbus East came down to HWT match. Not only that but fans of both teams were great cheering. Which made the dual even more exciting from match to match.  This dual meet was better then most High School duals hands down.

Tyler Miner and Mason Miranda were also not at Perry. With this said, the Perry tourney falls on the same week as xmas duals every year. There will be studs from many teams missing every year (at Perry).

Mason was playing basketball! Please, if  anyone sees Mason this season. Tell him that he is too short to play basketball!

Lets not take anything away from EMD. I have never seen their youth team, but I am sure that they are very good. They should be very proud for their win at Perry.

By the way, great job Columbus and hats off to all of your parents that congratulated our boys and our families. The sportsmanship was great.

Just a quick note...  Columbus East beat the teams that finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.  That is a pretty good way to prove you are the champs.

4 pools with 4 teams in team, then bracket #1 vs #2 blind draw....

Columbus East #1 and Indy West #2 in the same pool

Avon Gold #1 and Center Grove #2 in same pool

So all of the top 4 teams wrestled eachother at one point during the day

The hwt wrestler from from Columbus East really had a gutsy performance. He had hurt his elbow earlier and was wearing a slight brace. In the semi-final round he started wrestling and reinjured his elbow again. He was up 2-1 when he had to default. He was in tears due to the pain and could not continue. He came back in the final round and won by fall. Truly a gutsy young man. Please someone post his name and let's give this young man the credit that he deserves. GREAT JOB!

That was Brady Shepard from Jennings County. He injuried that elbow down in Georgia a few weeks ago. He is in fact a stud. His team (team Indiana) was very upset when he got injured down there. They decided (as a team) to give big Brady the second place trophy after the meet. Another example of how the kids from this age group are good sports and care for eachother. I have been very lucky to coach many of  these boys.
