Those were clearly the four best teams, based on the scores, and only 3 of the 6 potential match-ups among them happened. Worse than that, the probable championship (MD/CB) wasn't one of them. I agree it would have been nice to see MD wrestle both of the other schools and Merrillville wrestle Blue Springs. I agree. It seems rather odd for these teams to miss each other. What's the point of going if not to hit that kind of competition. Hopefully that is corrected next year. MDinIraq Posted January 8, 2012 Share Posted January 8, 2012 It is my understanding that MV and MD cannot wrestle Blue Spring because they are from Kansas City. They are located more than 300 miles away. It was a great day of wrestling for all of the teams. The last match of the day between Blue Springs and CBHS was very intense. Parents/fans were arguing and verbal fighting in the stands. The two teams fans had to be separated and escorted out of the building. Great facility and wonderful campus. Huskie70 Posted January 8, 2012 Author Share Posted January 8, 2012 I heard from several people who spoke with the CBHS coach, that he was very upset that they did not wrestle MD. According to what I was told, the only reason CBHS agreed to wrestle this event, was to have the opportunity to wrestle MD. It also affected why the second set of pools was predetermined because of who could and could not wrestle each other. What is the thought behind this rule from the IHSAA? maligned Posted January 8, 2012 Share Posted January 8, 2012 Using the 30 dual meets' results, Genius predicts the following average expected results from the big matches that didn't happen: Christian Brothers 31, Mater Dei 29 Mater Dei 33, Blue Springs 27 Blue Springs 34, Merrillville 26 Would have been fun matches. I am uncertain of the names of most of Merr. wrestlers. 138 MD by fall 145 MD by fall 152 MD by fall 160 Merr by fall 170 Merr. dec. (may have been a major) 182 MD not sure think it may have been a tech 195 MD by fall 220 Merr. dec. 285 MD dec. 106 MD dec. (Seng beats Garza 7-6) 113 MD by fall 120 Merr. dec.
