Well, the fix is in. Pretty sad manipulation of the draw. All Connersville kids wrestle freshmen or sophomores first round. They are also primarily away from Cathedral and Roncalli. Meanwhile, 3 first round Roncalli - Cathedral matches including two state finalist at 152. Connersville is definitely damaging the integrity of this tournament. I have talked to a couple coaches that will look elsewhere for a tournament in 2012. Too bad.

They pulled the same crap last year putting the Connersville wrestlers away from any strong competition early in the brackets, and that is taking home advantage to a whole different level. So in their eyes it's a blind draw for everyone else except their wrestlers, and whats sad is they still finish no better then 3rd - or worse!

I've said 1,000 times about this tournament: It wouldn't be difficult at all to have a very simple seeding criteria that wouldn't involve a coaches' meeting and would maybe even save time in bracketing.  This way, you could at least separate a few of the obviously better kids--not necessarily with perfect seeding, but at least avoiding some of the best matches until late in the tournament.  For example:

1. Best state placement ever

2. State qualifier ever

3. Placement at C-ville ever

4. Semi-state qualifier ever

5. Winning percentage (at least 10 matches wrestled)

Just like that you would put 8 good kids in different parts of the bracket and VASTLY improve your odds of avoiding big matches early on.  It really would take almost no extra time and would greatly improve the tournament.

The Connersville coaching staff obviously is not intrested in doing whats best for the tournament or most of the kids, and it's obvious when you look at last years and this years draw for their wrestlers...
