YOUTH WRESTLING

 

Team Jeff fares well in weekend tourneys

 

Team Jeff Wrestling Club competed in two wrestling tournaments last weekend.

 

At the Jennings County Folkstyle Invitational, Team Jeff?s Michael Vazquez was the squad?s lone individual championship as Team Jeff finished second.

 

Teammate Brent Browner placed second in his weight class, while Team Jeff?s Chris Bland wound up fifth.

 

In the Franklin Iron Man tournament, Team Jeff?s Carson Somerville placed first in both his Greco-Roman division and his Folkstyle class along with finishing second in freestyle.

 

Teammate Alonzo Shepherd won his division in both freestyle and Greco-Roman and finished second in freestyle. Team Jeff?s Elijah Curtley won his Greco-Roman class and was second in his freestyle division.

 

Other Team Jeff results were the following: Ryan Kopp ? third in freestyle; Nick Kauchak ? second in freestyle and second in Greco-Roman; Jarrod Shepherd ? third in Folkstyle; Keegan Cain ? third in freestyle; Jordan Schremp ? fifth in Greco-Roman; Keegan Connin ? fourth in Greco-Roman; Kaden Connin ? fifth in Greco-Roman.

 

 

 

Upcoming Team Jeff events

 

Team Jeff Wrestling Club will be hosting two events in the upcoming days. They are the following:

 

? Greco-Roman ?Live? Night ? It will take place at 6 this evening at Jeffersonville High School. The event is open to any area wrestler with a USA Wrestling card in grades 6-12. It is a free competition and walk-ins are welcome. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Teams from Floyd Central, New Albany, Charlestown, Columbus East and Jennings County have already entered the event.

 

? Regional Training Center ? Jeff will host its weekly Regional Training Center Monday, as the Wabash College coaching staff will conduct a clinic. The clinic will be open to grades 6-12 with a USA Wrestling card. Wrestlers will be admitted into the clinic by giving a donation of any amount to help pay for the coaches.
