State Question/Concern

The facility is the best available. The ISWA has done a great job. There will be 10 mats in the fieldhouse (same as every other year). So that area we be the same. The main gym is a monster. There will be plenty of room to sit there also. There may be a few more people in the hallways camping out. The last time that they tried this they used the freshman gym, which was located far from the fieldhouse. The main gym is much closer. True, if you have two or more kids (like I do) it may be tough to go between gyms. If you have more than 1 kid, make sure each has a responsible person to get them to the mat.

We need to keep this as positive as possible. And keep the kids in mind. We have all been to crowded venues in our lifetimes. I am sure that some of us have been to some much more crowded then that which we will be in tomorrow. A fight can happen anywhere. Why bring this up? We all know (as adults) that there will be police there and if you fight you may go to jail. Plain and simple, I trust the fine folks at the ISWA and at Ben Davis. We all should have a little faith and a lot of patience.

As far as registrations. Again, the ISWA did an awesome job. As I was working late into the night. I continued to check the numbers. The registration ended right on time. 12:59 am (our Time).

Again, lets all stay positive and do our parts as parents to not stir the pot and to make the best tournament possible for the kids. Thank God for the ISWA and the fine folks who have stepped  up to host this tourney at BD. My hat is off to you. NOW LETS WRESTLE!

Very well said Mattyb.

Agreeded Mattyb. That is where we are wrestling sat. and we will all deal with it. Thank God the ISWA does a great job running the state tournament so it shouldn't be that bad. We were in the freshman gym and that was god awful. I will always give the ISWA kudos, I have really never been to a bad state tournament in six years and lets not forget these people are all volunteers for our kids. If we act like adults and good coaches and remember that we are not at the olympic trials everything will be fine. Good Luck to all our fine young wrestlers and thank you for being part of the greatest sport in the world. I highly doubt conseco can get enough mats down. Heck the only have 4 for high school states every year and many more would be pressing it. Lets just let the kids have fun!!!!    TIME TO STRAP IT ON......Good Luck to all

I totally agree ISWA does an awesome job. I am ashamed to admit this I am scared to be going without my husband . I want to offer any help I can to make this go smoothly. I am just a little scared because I am going without my husband and the past 2 out of 3 years there was a "fight" that broke out near us and the people got escorted out and my son is scared of fights and close spaces and he is already a challenged wrestler and I just wanted to have a little insight on what to expect so I can be well prepared so my son is at his best!

I appreciate all of the information and I am packing my van.

I wish everyone Good Luck!

Thank You so much and May the Lord Bless all of you!

Do you think Conseco can house 16 mats?

This is really a rough event for spectators...there is no denying that. Set an example for the local tournaments and split the sessions by AM (pee wee/Bantam) and PM (intermediate/novice).

Another idea for alleviating the congestion inside the fieldhouse would be to use Matside pairings. That would at least give you the opportunity to set up camp outside the gym and fieldhouse as you would have an idea of how much time you have between matches.

As stated in an earlier post, this will be a two day event next year. So there will be no need for an AM and PM after this years state. There were just unforeseen circumstances that led to the two gym scenerio this year.

Typically the matches are numbered, so you can kind of follow when it is that your wrestler will be up. Go by the number printed on the brackets in the hall. However, towards the end (placement matches) you will need to stay on your toes.

Like I said earlier, nice to hear its back to two days next year, definently for the novice boys who have to make a tough choice between state or junior high.  I dont think that the mat space will be an issue, or that there will be a major issue at all, but if there is a crowding issue tomorrow, it will be the number of spectaters, parking, matside type stuff.  But of course, none of us would ever miss it!

I am sure Conseco would rather have ISWA wrestling instead of Big Ten basketball. LOL  Ask Chad Red and Mark Durham about Conseco anybody at Indy Nationals that year? You would have to bring a couple hundred bucks for concessions cause you wouldn't get a cooler in.
