STARSMAN
I am going to say yes, and I think that it was a Bloomington South wrestler years ago. I could be totally wrong though
hammer
I am almost sure there have been 0-0 wrestlers entering the State tournament who have won it.

BB145
How did they qualify? My guess is weigh ins were good. That is what is required not matches.
matts
How did they qualify? The state tourney begins with sectionals.
sb25
I am almost sure there have been 0-0 wrestlers entering the State tournament who have won it. Didn't Scott Wilson from Rushville come into the sectional his senior year,1989-90, with a 0-0 record and go on to win it?

That might be correct, although that wasn't who I was thinking of.
SlickRodz
John Gilispe, Bloomington South mid-70"s. I believe he was 17-19 when the post season began.
DragonDad
Scott Wilson was 39-1 the year he won... He was 11-1 the year before when he lost to Ellis
gstemv81
The IHSAA site shows that a John Gillespie, Bloomington, beat Tony Melendez of Lafayette Jefferson 2-1 at 145 in 1971. No season record is listed for Gillespie. I think the old Bloomington High became Bloomington South, and Bloomington North opened in 1973. This would have been around the time that semi-states were added to the state tournament series. Back then only the top two advanced.

ontherise219
Didn't Jose Escobedo do this when he was a runner up? Something like 12-1 Sectional regionals team regional team semi state semi state and state?
gstemv81
That looks like an injury shortened season. Nothing close to starting the state series under .500.
