IntegratedCarp
I hate to think of my senior leaving for college let alone a 7th grader going away. ... or a 12th grader from Franklin living in Dorktown.

greco4life
Ok. This has become a very interesting read to say the least. I saw one where they were talking academics. If they are failing academically, wredtki g should be thast thing on a parents mind. If they are doing well in school I see no reason to hold em back. That's just me tho. The ones who held the kids back before they started school I can see that. As far as the puberty thing, I'd like to see the percentages of parents doi g this I. 8th that do not wrestle. I weighed 90lbs my 9th grade year. Not sure if I had any hair anywhere. But I'm sure everything else was in working order. Lol. The person talking about pressure in middle school.. What pressure? These kids are what 13 or 14. There is no pressure. Wake up eat cereal go school and wrestling practice. Come home do some chores go party and try to pick up honeys... I wish I could go back and rough the pressures of 8 grade..

sb25
Looking at the list of placers in the middle school state, I'm guessing all of those who listed CIA, Region Wrestling Academy, unattached, etc. are red shirting. Otherwise they would have listed the school they attend.

sb25
Do you understand the type of education a child can get at Apple Valley, wrestling is just a bonus. It's no different then sending your kid to Culver Military Academy. I do not know the academic reputation of Apple Valley but I think comparing it to CMA might be a bit of a stretch. The kid referenced in the post only attends there from November through February. It does not appear he is there for the education.
greco4life
@ charger dad. Yes indeed. And to face 8 grade twice... I dnt see how I could handle it. Especually now. Ps3 xbox computers. Cell phones. What else is stressing these kids out?

Track Wrestling allows you to create a profile for each kid that you have registered -- and then just re-use that when you sign them up for another event. So I would guess that most of these examples are where the parent just re-used the profile rather than creating a new one with the middle school name on it. I was being sarcastic since college wrestlers enter opens under a club or unattached when they are red shirting. Call me old fashion, I still like the idea of representing one's community and/or school.
PTK-time
From, what I'm reading Middle School State is nothing short of a joke. If we're putting legit novice and schoolboy aged kids up against cadets, this makes these so called 15 year old champions no more than frauds. If you're holding a kid back for athletic reasons, than your trying to live what you couldn't accomplish through your kid!! Wake up people with our Man Mitch cutting schools the way he's doing we are going to be lucky to keep wrestling in Indiana. Let's not give the Mitch and the administrators any more ammunition to use against us.
Payne
Wow...I have never heard of people being so fanatical about their kids sucess. I would never teach a kid to do something so unethical. If you parents are truely worried about your childs small build, then why not get together and petition the IHSAA to open up the 98 lbs. weight class. I'd love to get back to the odd number of weight classes. If parents are that willing to sacrifice their kids social and academic developement for sucess in this sport then I guess the steroid bus is not too far off. Wait, that already happened this year too. Anyone supporting these unethical practices should be banned from the sport, and possibly deserves a visit from the Child Protective Agencies in their community. You know who you are and should be ashamed!
