IPS Wrestling Champion's Camp

Recommended Posts

IPS hosted its first ever Wrestling Champion's Camp at Arlington High School this week and today was the last day.  As many of you know IPS is behind the curve in this sport but it was a great atmosphere as we had coaches and wrestlers from just about every school in the district and expectations were raised across the board.  We were able to bring together most of the best and dedicated wrestlers in IPS under one roof to train, step our game up, and work on closing that gap.

Not only did we cover the basics but spent a great deal of time on advanced wrestling in order to help us compete with the elite wrestlers of Indiana.  Surprisingly, when everyone was brought together we actually had a pretty competitive room.  There were a dozen wrestlers from outside the district that attended who also benefitted from a hungry room and add to the competition level.

I personally would like to thank Coach Mendoza from Arsenal Tech, Coach Stewart from Manual, Coach Rickard from Northwest, Coach Sellers from Attucks, Coach V from Washington, and Coach Brown from Howe for all contributing and making it as successful as it was.  Our wrestlers and coaches were able to sharpen each other, allowing us to build a tighter bond, as well as set some obtainable goals for next year.

Great job IPS for investing more into this awesome sport and we look forward to a better season than the last!
