While I will agree it will ge tough for Hipp to beat VanHook but to say "No way will Hipp even come close" is very dangerous.  Hipp had Hall on his back at Mt. Vernon Turkey Classic and came close to getting a pin and we all know at this stage anything can happen but like I said, on paper it will be a tough match for Hipp to win and he will for sure be a huge underdog.

I can't believe no one is putting Damon McEllhiney from Princeton in their top 4 at 125.  I know him personally and he is a solid wrestler who has been ranked the last several weeks and has beaten some tough kids.  I know he lost by major decision to the Castle kid at sectional but he also lost to the same Castle kid by 1 point at Bloomington.  I see him in the semis with a tough match against MD but he should finish top 3.

I like Sims to win 145 and I'll take Stein over Weiss this week.  I've seen these two wrestle probably 5 times and I saw last week's match too.  Kudos to Weiss for bringing it but I think Stein will get him back this week and it won't surprise me to see them matchup in the finals over the next 3 Saturdays.

I have Central Sectional taking 43 to semit state and Castle Sectional taking 11 to semi state.  However I think there is a chance for 10 champs  from Castle Sectionals.

Interestlingly, you have undefeated returning 5th placer and currently 2nd rated Doug Welch not making it out of the first round.

Yeah central will not take all four at 145. Welch will be champion in that class

I will take McEllhiney to place.  Solid wrestler and alble to handle any of the wrestlers in either bracket.

145 should be Welch - The Doug One.

I agree completely that ANYTHING can - and most likely WILL - happen in this Regional

What makes you think Goebel can beat Dunkel ??? After watching him at team regionals im having a hard time seeing that happen

I thought the same thing GS171.........even though Dunkel lost to Welch at 112 in the sectional finals the score was much closer than the Welch v Goebel match last night and Dunkel has been solid all year.  I think too many people overlook some very good area wrestlers who aren't from an SIAC school but I can understand why because the SIAC does have a lot of very talented wrestlers who will be wrestling for state championships.  Irregardless, we will find out Saturday.  I know all too well some wrestlers just match up better against others in the same weight class.  Good luck to all Saturday.

Glad to see that some people are now seeing that Chamberlain has ONE move.  I don't think it will continue out of this weekend.  Sims beating Welch?  He has ONE point in 3 matches against the Welch boys (except for the penalty pt. at team regional).  I'm not sure if WIMPelburg has even scored against Daugherty.  And didn't he get pinnned by Hammelman at Sectionals?  Match of the day will be Stein vs. Weiss III.

For Sims to beat Welch hes going too have to get that first takedown.. Welch looked almost impossible to escape from last night
