sparky
Great article?? Are you kidding? Not only is this old news but ESPN rehashes it to bring up the anything negative they can. Of all the wrestling stories going on about kids working hard and doing the right thing they only focus stories on severe weight cutting and now this porn thing. Both wrestlers involved are self-serving jerks and the last thing this sport should do is give them any more attention. You want good story check out Adam Frey... devildog47959
do u know how much money college athletes bring into the universities??? wrestling does not bring as much as a major sport like football which generates millions of dollars per year and wat do they get a free education? about 40K for 4 years.. thats redic. I dont think they should be paid millions but i deff think colege atheltes should be paid. How can they get a job and concentrate on being a Division 1 athlete at the same time.. theres just no time they need to be 100% committed to the sport they are playing. So do i think its worng that he did a photo shoot no not really.. the fact that it was a gay photo shoot is wat got under peoples skin.. and like he said lots of athletes beat there gfs and wifes or get arrested on drug charges all the time and most schools sweep it under the rug or make it known and the player gets a little suspenion but never does a high profile athelte get removed from the team especially a national champion. I think Nebraska made a mistake here.. but thats just my opionon buddy
MattM
University of Nebraska Average Cost for Resident of Nebraska per yearTotal: $13,688.50 Resident tuition: $179.75/credit hour Fees*: $1,276.00/year Tuition and Fees*: $6,668.50 Room and board: $7,020.00 Average Cost for Non-Resident of Nebraska per year Total: $24,308.50 Non-resident tuition: $533.75/credit hour Fees*: $1,276.00/year Tuition and Fees*: $17,288.50 Room and board: $7,020.00 This excludes $10,000+ per year over the average high school grade you will be making after graduation because the the degree you should have obtained. Maybe not a perfectly fair system but it looks like they are at least getting something if on scholarship. Not to much different than professional team as they make a ton more bank as an organization than they give the average player on their team too. And after a few years that player may not walk away with anything more after their career is over. To me the biggest issue is how the wrestlers come off during the interview. Making a simple statment would have been a much better road for them if you ask me. Yeah ESPN would have probably went ahead with the story, but those two added nothing helpful to the story. Distancing themselves as much as possible from the issue, as they had for awhile now, would have been a better way to save some credibility. Yeah other players in college end up getting off easy for really stupid and illegal actions, but thats a different story that needs addressed. The attitude of "well so-and-so got away with worse" isn't exactly the best defense to take when being judged for your actions. In the interview all they managed to do was playing everything off like it was a big joke, acting like nothing was wrong even with their past incidents, and burning bridges even amoung the wrestling team. Seems like bad tact for two young men who may want to continue working with some college wrestling programs after their college career is done.
