Purdue is wrestling well, they are currently tied for first in the team race with Iowa with 20 points.  Wisconsin is in 3rd with 19 points.  Purdue still has 8 wrestlers in the championship round, while Iowa has 10.

Corpe wins. Wrestles Ben Harris next.

 

#8 Trever Perry(IU) is upset by Ben Harris.

 

Szymborski wrestles well, but falls short in his match.

Wesley Fike loses by major 8-1 to 8th seed Jay Ivanco of Clarion.

Eric Galka loses to Cleveland State's Josh Palivoda 8-6.

Jake Fleckenstein loses by fall to 3rd seed Steve Bell of Maryland.

Andrae Hernandez loses to Fred Rodgers of Rider 5-2.

[glow=red,2,300]Scott Kelly decisions SF State's Ben Lockett 6-0. Kelly follows that up with a 6-2 overtime win over Pitt's Eric Albright. Kelly faces Tsirtsis next.

Nick Walpole loses by major 10-1 to Oregon high schooler RJ Pena.

Alex Warren loses by TF 16-1 to 7th seed Heinrich Barnes of Oregon St.

Jamal Lawrence loses by 8-2 decision to Rider's Nick Weaver.

Brian Deutsch loses by decision 5-1 to 3rd seed Michael Chandler of Mizzou.

6th seed Matt Coughlin gets back on track with a 10-5 decision over Corey Carlo of Cleveland St.

8th seed Andrew Howe wins 6-1 over Rider's Jason Lapham.

Ben Hoover loses by major 16-5 to Oregon State's Keegan Davis.

Paul Young loses 7-6 to 4th seed Jon Reader of Iowa St.

Jason Martin won his pigtail match by fall over Triton's Miguel Luis. He lost his 1st round match to Northwestern's Frank Battaglia 4-2.

Ian Hinton loses 5-3 to top seed Jay Borschel of Iowa.

Nick Corpe beats Lincoln College's James Nakashima 12-6.

Andrew Szymborski loses by TF 18-3 to Maryland's Corey Peltier.

Nick Walpole wins his first wrestleback match by fall over Derek Coorough of Iowa. Coorough was a 2X state champ in his HS career in Wisconsin. Walpole faces Old Dominion's Joey Metzler next.

 

Matt Coughlin wins by fall over Columbia's Derek Sickles. Coughlin will face 3rd seed Michael Chandler of Missouri next, with a spot in the semis at stake.

 

Brian Deutsch rebounded from his close loss to Chandler by beating Nebraska-Kearney's Cole Garcia by a 5-2 margin. Deutsch will face Gabe Burak of Penn next.

 

Andrew Howe majors 12-4 Justin Brandel of Eastern Michigan. Howe faces top seed Moza Fay of N. Iowa.

 

Jason Martin wins his first wrestlebacks match by beating Neil Posmer of WWC 8-7. Martin faces Maryland's Brian Letters next.

 

Paul Young quickly pins (41 seconds) Oregon State's Dan Brascetta. He'll face Northwestern's Dom Marella next.

 

Ben Hoover lost his 2nd match and is done. He lost 8-3 to Marella.

 

Andrew Szymborski loses his 2nd match to Derek Coffee of Old Dominion by a 14-7 count.

 

Matt Powless won his opener 8-2 over Vince Bordi of SF St. Powless will face 4th seed Hudson Taylor of Maryland next.

 

Ethan Winel dropped his first match 8-3 to Kyle Simonson of Iowa St.

 

Justin Kuhn lost to Eric Simaz of C. Michigan 6-2.

 

Chris Kasten won his first match, a 5-2 decision over MSU's Steve Andrus. Kasten will face 5th seed Zach Shaeffer of Pitt next.

Midlands aside, keep in mind with Hinton at 174, chances are he might face Corpe in Elkhart later this year when Purdue and MIchigan State show up to battle at North Side Gym. Can't wait!

 

This is what Ian is hoping will happen! Maybe Ian can finally get some redemption! I'm super pumped for this.
