I could not agree less.  Annually for 10+ years I have created dozens of spreadsheets detailing the accuracy of the rankings.  IndianaMat rankings is incredibly accurate/consistent. I do not want the SS to be seeded, but if they did decide to do it, using the rankings would be an intelligent start for the

Guarantee ppl would not drag their feet on reporting results! Some Ppl think rankings don't matter and in relation to getting your guy prepped for a guy and competing it doesn't but when it comes to getting a kid looked at for college (I know many big schools only care about grades and National scene usually) opportunites and having  educated insight on the quality and depth of our talent then Rankings are huge..

Then you add the seeding purposes in this kind of scenario, if needed...I appreciate the heck out of the hard work these guys dedicate and volunteer and too many times does it get taken for granted..I think we're going in a better direction and would like to know if we're improving in the Result reporting @Y2CJ41 do you have any stats on that or a guess on that? I'm going to make it a obligation next year too at least report NC results better and insert big results that I see that haven't been entered in the significant result categories that I see across the board.. I'm a stat head and enjoy doing that stuff.. Anyways I think we all can agree there needs to be Wrestle backs at SS and state!

I have an example of reporting that didn’t happen. In the case person that I was replying to, he said that 195 is a joke because 3 of the top four in semi state rankings are on the same side of the bracket. One of those kids from Westfield in the New Castle bracket, got pinned by the Southmont kid at the bottom of the bracket. South kid isn’t even ranked in the Semi State and Westfield kid is ranked in top 4. It definitely happened too. That’s just an example of how reporting plays a big factor in rankings.

Then don't complain when the rankings aren't as you wish they were. If you don't report the result then you can't blame the rankers for missing something.

All of the rankers do a fantastic job of compiling information from hundreds of kids. Missing one result isn't the end of the world.

I hear what you’re saying, however it’s that doesn’t justify it.  If the system is egregiously flawed the need to try and fix it.

To start with semi state needs a backside!  Second they should hold a seeding meeting prior to semi state to try and get the right kids in the right spots!

If we just accept this it will never improve!

There is no seeding past sectionals for any sport and most sports use a blind draw from the start. I'm also not aware of any other state tournament in the country that reseeds after every level of their respective state tournament. The further you go in the state tournament the less likely you are to have common opponents so criteria would be difficult. You can't expect the IHSAA to rely on an independent site's rankings for seeding purposes either. A prime example of that is your thoughts on the rankings. You may think they are inaccurate, while others believe they are which would be another reason people would dispute them at seeding meetings.

Not to mention too, the logistical nightmare of getting every coach with a qualifier at a given SS to show up on an early weeknight to seed 16 wrestlers per weight, then set brackets and get them disseminated.

Is there a way to adjust your submitted pickems picks?  In an instance where you had McDonald and Warren making it to state at 182 but due to a bracket change, that is no longer possible.

    Just resubmit your picks

I agree completely.  We are one of the very few sports that even bothers to have seeding at the sectional level.  At least our kids have the chance to move to the next round and prove themselves again.  Other than a few death draws at semi - state.  I've seen a lot of ranked teams/individuals eliminated at the sectional level in the other sports, without a second chance.
