Blubaugh with some huge wins to put himself back in the championship match for the fourth year in a row. He faces #8 seed who is 16-6.

#8 seed had a nice run for himself. Guess it needs to stop though.

Derek Blubaugh picks up his 2nd national title in front of the home fans. Awesome job! He ends up going 2-2-1-1 in his career.

It gets looked over because it's not D1, but having wrestled at the D2 level, this is incredibly impressive.

Hats off to Derek Blubaugh, Jason Warthan, and the whole UIndy squad.

It's amazing especially since he 'only' finished 6th and 4th in high school!

Yet another example of how wrestlers shouldn't be afraid of continuing to grow physically later in their careers. Blubaugh was 152 as a junior, 170 as a senior in high school--but just not nearly done getting bigger. He's been an absolute horse at 197 in college.

I think of eventual 4-time D3 champ 197 Riley Lefever, eventual D1 AA HWT Lucas Davison, eventual HWT's Conner Barket and Hayden Filipovich about to make their D1 nationals debuts for Duke and Purdue. David Taylor moving up from 163lb to 189lb internationally and becoming a legend. College 165 Bryce Hasseman (Franklin grad) becoming an international 189 known for his insane strength (UP all that weight).

Like Blubaugh, you couldn't look at any of those very powerful guys and think they belonged at smaller weight classes.
