Why is wrestling treated differently?????????????????
« on: March 16, 2012, 03:30:16 AM »
Basically the question is as follows. There is school number 1 who had 2 wrestlers transfer to school 2, but had to sit out a year because the school would not sign off on the transfer, However school 1 received 2 brothers who play basketball from school c. They were allowed to play because school c did not fight the transfer. Claimed academic reasons, right, they transferred from a private school to a public school. Reason being DADDY did not like the coach at the private school. IS this not a double standard involving school 1 since they disallowed 2 wrestlers to transfer but gladly let these basketball players come on in. Hence knocking kids out of playing time. Best part is their new basketball team lost in the sectionals but that old team is SEMI-STATE bound. Ironic.
Reason for the question is that school 1 has a wrestler who is one of their best , parents thinking about moving from an apartment to a house. Just so happens to be in another district. School 1 , looking at past records probably will not release the wrestler, making him miss a year. SO the parent is gonna stay put so the wrestler is not punished. Makes ya wonder why. Just so happens that school 1 has been a basketball powerhouse for many years and wrestling is a sport that many come out for. Things that make ya wonder about. Maybe the parent should talk to the AD and bring to light the questions with the ball players.

I can't address much, but when transferring from a private school to a public school the student is rarely penalized.  Simply put the parents can cite financial reasons for the transfer.

If there is a legitimate change in address their is little the school the wrestler is leaving from can do.  The incoming school has very little say over challenging the transfer, the problem lies with the school that the athlete leaves.  Has nothing to do with the sport.  So school "C" must've signed off and school "2" did not.  School "1" had nothing to do with eligiblilty.

Maybe those wrestlers really tied the room... or um team.... together at school "2".
