Jeff's Shepherd to compete in IN/IL All-Star Duals

Jeffersonville senior Alonzo Shepherd will compete in the 19th annual Indiana/Illinois All-Star Duals on Sunday, March 11 at Dekalb (Ill.) High School.

Shepherd will be wrestlng on the Indiana All-Star squat.  It is the second yar ina row that a Jeffersonville wrestlers has competed in the duals, as former Red Devil standout Renaldo Wekly wrestled in the event last year.

The past season, Shepherd cecame the all-time winningest wrestler in Jeff history.  He also became the first Red Devil to win four sectional championships and four regional titles in a career.  he placed in the 120-pound weight class at the 2012 IHSAA State Finals.

Shepherd, who was named this year's News and Tribune Area Wrestelrs of the Year, will continue his career at Indiana University next season.

Jeff Grad wins Arnold Classic

James Reed, a 2005 Jeffersonville High School graduate and former Red Devil wretlsr, won the 145pound weight class in the Arnold Classic No-Gi BJJ Tournament last weekend in Columbus, Ohio.

Reed won all three of his matches by points and did not give up one point in the tournament.  Reed coaches wrestling at Bridgepoint Elementary School in Jeff.
