As mentioned previously, Brooks and Tsirtsis are both in the Dapper Dan All-Star event vs. Pennsylvania too.

It was reported earlier that his foot was broken and he had to pull out.  He is still planning on Fargo later in the summer.

So I got here 5 minutes early and there's literally not a seat in the house. Standing room only. Standing elbow to elbow with wrestling royalty--J Robinson, Keving Jackson, McFarland, Anderson, Dake, Sanders...even these guys can't get a seat! These folks in Iowa love their wrestling. This is wrestling Mecca.

Tsirtsis should have a stiff challenge from Moreno. The introductions alone took 20 minutes. Should be a good night

Laux cuts the corner and gets the first takedown near the end of the first. Laux don to start the 2nd. Quick escape and near reversal for Laux. Up 3-0, snags another TD, up 5-0. Starting to open up on his Oklahoma opponent.

Laux way too much for Woodburn. 13-4 winner.

They're moving to 138 next. Skonieczny is clearly a notch above. A step quicker and too strong. Leads 11-4 in 2nd. Skonieczny looking to even up the team score and become the 2nd Hawkeye recruit in as many matches to dominate his opponent. Skonieczny now playing catch and release to try to rack up more points. Leads 19-9 with 15 secs left. Another brutal double....wins 23-10. Would've pinned him with another 10 secs. Team score tied at 4-4

182 up next. Rogers and Bartel each with early body locks, but Rogers prevails early on. Leads 6-1 to start the 2nd. Rogers has some uncanny instincts and balance and has been able to score when Bartel tries to work his offense. The OSU wrestler leads 8-3 to start the 3rd. As with the first two matches, this will be a major...Rogers too much and too good, wins 12-4 over the UNI wrestler

Finally a great match at 170. Stanford recruit Nevills with a huge reversal and cradle in the 3rd period to upend Hawkeye recruit Meyer 7-6. Meyer appeared to have it in the bag, but the CA wrestler kept chugging and got some clutch back points.

At 160, Illinois signee Brunson is hammering Wisky recruit Koethe. Leads 13-4 late in the 3rd. Koethe not quitting, gets deep on a single, Brunson works for a stalemate and gets a TD of his own. majors Koethe 15-4.

132 up now and it pits Grey (Cornell) against Bauer (Iowa St.). Grey very fast and executes first TD. USA looking to build on team score lead of 15-4. Grey rides Bauer a while but let's him up before the 1 minute mark of the 2nd. Leads 2-1. Tying up and hand fighting..tight match heading into 3rd. Grey down and escapes to start 3rd, leads 3-1. Bauer not pushing the action enough, running out of time

Realize now I had the wrong wrestlers earlier. Thought it was Koethe and Brunson but it was actually Realbuto and Witte, with Realbuto dominating.

Grey won 3-1. Pretty mean with his hands, tough to get in on with a tie.

Koethe and Brunson up now. Scoreless through 1. They trade escapes in 2nd and 3rd. Ot. Brunson gets the td, wins 3-1. .

195 up Peterson and Phillips. Phillips first td, peterson esc. 2-1. Peterson near td on edge, out of bounds. Phillips fights off a deep single, stalemate. Peterson down to start 2nd, quick esc., 2-2. Td peterson, 4-2. Let's him go and gets another, leads 6-3. Nice reversal by Phillips, cuts lead to 6-5 to start 3rd. Anyone else having issues with trackwrestling? Another phillips reversal, leads now 7-6.  Huge reversal by peterson w 10 secs left to win a great match 8-7.

Jason is up!!!!

Tsirtsis so quick and smooth, gets a TD and leads 2-1 to start 2nd. Moreno is tough very nearly takes him down to end the first period. Tsirtsis down, reverses and gets backs....leads 6-2 after first. He is so good its ridiculous. Now he's putting on a clinic in the 2nd, leading the #2 ranked wrestler 12-4 to start the 3rd. Moreno esc, another TSIRTSIS TD, leads 18-8, thoroughly dominating an exceptional wrestler....another td, leads 20-8, gets late backs, but falls short of a tech, winning 22-8. Best performance all night, by far

Heavys up. Beavins up quickly 4-0 over Goergen

Iowa finally wins another match at HWT. It was physical and nasty and those guys can really move and scramble for big boys.  12-9 the final.

Dicamillo and peters up at 120. Dico with quick td, esc peters, 2-1 to start 2nd. Phone dying...sorry that's about all I have left

Gulibon wins 5-2. Team USA wins 40-7. Likely would've been worse if Brooks had been there. Didn't announce MOW but it should definitely be TSIRTSIS. He literally had people oohing and aahhing

It was fun to Watch Tsirtsis in high school he just keeps getting better.  I hope he wrestles fargo this year or hopefully he makes the junior world team.  Would like to see a rematch with McCauley.  He dominated the #2 ranked wrestler tonight.

I'm telling you, a ton of people inside that building thought Moreno was going to beat Tsirtsis, because he was that good and dominant in his career. Tsirtsis nearly pins him and would've teched him with a few more seconds. Just unreal. He wrestles like a Senior level elite wrestler

He wrestles like a Senior level elite wrestler

After the last 3 weeks of performances, this is not far from the truth.

Moreno breaks with 45 seconds to go in the second period. If Moreno is #2 at 145# there's a huge gap between #1 and #2.

Thanks for posting this!

All I can say is WOW! #2 Nationally ranked & Jason just toys with him! What i was most impressed with was Jason physique, his muscle mass is twice of his opponent. I remember Jason as a freshman had the skills of champion but wasn't physically formed yet. Jason has obviously committed himself to the weight room & it shows his opponents are no way near as strong as he is. Jason has the physique of a senior level competitor
