Nathan Boston???
« on: August 21, 2012, 06:24:18 AM »
The new KY pre-season rankings just came out and I saw a familiar name at the top of the 120 weight class. Did nathan boston really move to perennial powerhouse woodford county?

He's registered in the IndianaMat Pre-season open as Woodford. From what I've seen on Kentuckywrestling.com he is now a Kentucky Wrestler. I think they said that is where his family is originally from. Good luck to the Boston family and congratulations Woodford on picking up a great wrestler.

Gives him a much better shot of winning another state title or two... would've been less likely here.  What kind of national exposure does Woodford get during the regular season?

From the sounds of it, Woodford is picking up a couple studs from St. Paris Graham also.  Kentucky has a little less stringent travel restrictions which would allow teams to go to events like the Ironman in Ohio.

Sounds like he's transferring for sound academic reasons then  ::).  The way I look at it, he'd have a tough enough time winning another Indiana state title, so transferring out of state just to wrestle at national tournaments like the Ironman seems to be jumping the gun a little bit.  Although depending on the coaching staff and other transfers you mentioned it could better help him develop as a wrestler than staying in Indiana would.

It looks to me that his Family has made a Decision to move! There is more than 1 Boston son that Wrestles! Believe that Robert signed at Campbellsville in KY. So now the move has helped the family to be near 1 child, while moving the other to a new High School! JMO-         Goodluck

Another great post by this guy! Never heard of the Carrs. Hmmmmm. How bout Jimmy or Nate? Iowa State? For a guy that has opinions on everything, he knows nothing about the history of our great sport. I wonder why he gets booed?

There are 16 Carrs. Jimmy was the youngest olympian ever. The Carrs all know their stuff.

Other than the Smith's and their family tree you won't find a much more accomplished wrestling family than the Carr's.  Out of the large family several state titles, most wrestled in college, a handful were All-Americans, and 2 were Olympians. While their maybe a few relatives that outshines both Joe and Joe Jr in national accolades.  They are both very accomplished as wrestlers and coaches.  They have built Woodford Co. into one of the top programs in Kentucky history.  Yeah it's Kentucky wrestling, but some of the teams alumni have went on to have solid DI college careers.

I think it is funny how people speculate on things that they know nothing about. I won`t do that myself.
I do know this...Nathan has been at Pride with Coach Hull all summer. I know this because my son has been there as well. One great program I have to say. As far as Nathan not having a shot at another title here in Indiana. We probably will never know. He is in Kentucky. If he were not, he would in my opinion be at the top of the bracket at state. In fact, he probably would have been last year. He wrestled semi state and state with a broken thumb. Not taking anything away from Micic because he is very tough and may be there again this year...Tough kid....
Sounds to me like someone is not a Boston fan. Daddy Boston and I have had our differences in the past but Rob and Nathan are two different people. Don`t bad mouth the kid. I say good luck to him in Kentucky and Indiana wrestling lost a very talanted wrestler to another state. Not a doubt in my mind that we will see him wrestling and winning in Kentucky and later in D1...

You start your quote by saying "you won't speculate", and do just that with your statement about Boston being on the top of the podium if not for that thumb injury.  Boston could have had an extra two thumbs at the state finals in my opinion and would have had nothing for Micic.  That kid was head and shoulders the best 106 lb wrestler at Conseco last year.  Best of luck to him in Kentucky, but please don't imply that his thumb kept him from winning a second title that's making excuses for the kid, and taking away from the hardwork Micic put in.
Good advice is always certain to be ignored, but that’s no reason not to give it.

Not sure that being the relative of two legends makes one a legend himself.. Just because you may be an idiot, I'd still choose to give your relatives the benefit of the doubt, for example.  Clearly I've heard of Jimmy and Nate, but find it funny that because I've never heard of their relatives of Kentucky high school wrestling fame that I'm considered by you to be some moron..

Joe Carr Sr was an All-American for Kentucky and Joe Carr Jr was a 4x NCAA qualifier for West Virginia.
