Franklin Community VS Perry Meridian Middle 3-9-11

Franklin Community Middle School will be hosting the final dual meet of the season between these two fierce rivals.  Franklin Community won the middle school dual meet state championship this year and looks to avenge a loss to Perry Meridian earlier in the season at Bloomington.  Perry Meridian won the IHSWCA Middle School State Championship last month at New Castle beating out Franklin by 1 point!  The first dual meeet was decided by 6 points PM 49 Franklin 43.  There were only 21 weight classes at Bloomington and there will be an additional heavyweight class in which Franklin's wrestler placed 2nd in the state.  As you can see it should be a very close battle between these combatants.  The meet is scheduled to start at 5 PM.

It was a great match up as expected.  We drew for the starting weight class which was 130 lbs. Jesse Contreras earned a 7-2 decision over Austin Burnside of Franklin to put PM up 3-0.  Kyler Fleener won 6-2 over Randy Potts at 135 to go ahead 6-0.  Kyle Spurr secured a fall at 140 over Tre Robinson to put the Mustangs up 12-0.  Jason Moran got a huge fall over Josh Scott at 145 in the 3rd period after going up 4-0.  That made the score 12-6.  Jacob Stevenson pinned Daniel Curtis in 1:15 to tie the match at 12 all.  At 165 Chandler Dyer PM decisioned Cameran Jarrett11-5 to put PM up15-12.  Johnson Korvah majored Gary Williams 15-1 to put PM up 19-12.  In a swing match at 210, Chance Herald PM dec State runner-up Quinn York 6-3 to give PM a 22-12 edge.  Franklin's Dallas Lawson brought his team back with a fall over Jimmy Montgomery with only 7 seconds left in a close match bringing Franklin to within 4 points 22-18.  At superheavy Daniel Gaiter of PM beat staterunner-up Austin Lawson 3-2 in another pivotal match giving PM a 25-18 advantage going into the lower weight classes.  Roming Tholap PM earned his first vasity win with a fall over Payton Utterback FR to put Perry up 31-18.  Corban Pritt FR majored Davey clayton PM 10-2 closing the gap 31-22.  Noah Warren PM got a fall over Jeff Smith FR at 80 lbs to give PM a huge 37-22 lead.   Jordan Napier decisioned Trevor Reese 6-0 putting the Mustangs up 40-22.  Brett Johnson beat shane wilkerson 6-2 improving the lead to 43-22. At 95 DJ Brookbank won 7-4 over Austin Barnhizer FR making it 46-22.  Matt Ahlefeld dec Austin Clem 1-0. PM 46-25. At 105 Jake Kriech beat Kain Rust 6-0 making the score 46-28.Burk Vanhorn dec Chan Lian 6-5 46-31. Ngun Uk got a fall at 115 to put PM up 52-31.  Ryan Torrance dec Garrett Milner 2-1 52-34. Ryan Stinson PM dec Joesph Stevenson 2-0. Final score PM 55-34.
