CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior Casey Thome and sophomore Daniel Young won individual titles to lead the Army wrestling team to a third-place showing at the 17th annual All-Academy Championships on Sunday. The Black Knights piled up 82.5 points to finish within the top half of the eight-team field..

Young dominated the competition at 149 pounds, using a pair of technical fall victories to reach the championship match. The sophomore defeated VMI's Ryan Goodsell, 19-4, in the first round, before taking an 18-3 decision from Merchant Marine's Martin Bell in the second round. Young's dominance continued in the title bout as he took a 6-0 decision from The Citadel's Derek Royster.

Army Falls To Navy In Star Match

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The 55th installment of the Army-Navy wrestling rivalry was contested inside Christl Arena on Saturday evening with the Midshipmen winning seven of the 10 bouts en route to a 24-9 victory over the Black Knights. 

Junior Daniel Young made it three wins in a row for Army and cut the Black Knights' deficit to 11-9 as he blanked Joe Locksmith, 5-0, in the 149-pound matchup. The score was deadlocked at 0-0 heading to the third period, but Young escaped to start the stanza and added a takedown later in the frame. He picked up single points for stalling and riding time to round out the scoring.

Someone mentioned in another thread he may be out because of injury.  But, no one else has commented on that possibility.  I know With Army does not have red shirts and also requires all cadets to participate in a extra curricular athletic activity, but if injured he may not be counted as part of the line up.
