Beginning in the 2011-2012 wrestling season Indiana Tech will participate as a varsity intercollegiate sport as a NAIA member competing school. The expectation is to have a full varsity roster and junior varsity roster.

During the inaugural season, Indiana Tech’s schedule will be designed to compete with quality NCAA, NJCAA, and NAIA opponents in preparation for the opportunity to compete in a regional qualifier as well as the NAIA national championship in 2011.

Mike Ester will be the head coach for the Warriors. Ester brings a wealth of experience and success from the high school and college levels as competitor and coach.

Ester competed for Fort Wayne Snider’s wrestling team from 1988-1992. He was a two-time state qualifier, a 3rd place medalist during his senior campaign and co-captain for the Panthers. Snider claimed the city’s first ever team semi-state championship in 1992. Ester attended Manchester College as a member of the wrestling team from 1992 to 1996. He was a 4-year letter winner, three-time onference champion, the first Spartan wrestler to be crowned hampion at the prestigious Midwest Classic, an NCAA qualifier his senior season, and a two-year team captain.

To learn more, contact Coach Mike Ester at mcester@indianatech.edu.

Our first home meet will be NOVEMBER 4TH VS.  Campblesville(Kentucky)--We also are wrestling the EMU OPEN the following day.  We are working on a few other meets as well.  I'm pretty sure a few are set, but I don't want to jump the gun if they're not.

Article from Josh Ehr Signing:

Berne, IN – South Adams Senior, Josh Ehr, signed his letter of intent on Friday, January 28 to wrestle at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Indiana Tech Warriors are an NAIA school and next year will be the first season with a wrestling program, coached by Mike Ester.

Josh is currently ranked #2 at 152 lbs. in Indiana and has a 34-0 record this season. His career record for the Starfires is 138-24, which includes his 41-1 record last season. He has been a state qualifier twice, ACAC champion twice, sectional and regional champion last year. Josh holds records at South Adams for the most dual wins in a season (27), most pins in a season (29) and the best win percentage in a season.

His other accomplishments in wrestling include; Homestead Dual champ, Daleville Inv. Champ, Spencer Haworth Memorial champ, New Castle Super Dual champ, and ECIC champ, Tri-High Inv. champ.

Josh has lettered in wrestling four years, cross country one year and soccer three years for South Adams. He has helped the Starfires win four consecutive ACAC Wrestling Championships and led his team to an undefeated 27-0 record this season.

“We are excited to welcome Josh to our program,” Coach Ester said.  “His work ethic, desire, discipline and dedication to the sport epitomizes what we are looking for out of our Warrior wrestlers.  Josh is a well rounded athlete that possesses great athleticism and solid technique.  It’s well known that he is a highly decorated wrestler, and we feel that Josh will not only be a strong contributor to our team’s success but will also model the work ethic to his teammates that  we are looking for in our program.”

Article from Lefever Twins signing:

Fort Wayne, IN – The Indiana Tech wrestling team is proud to announce the signing of twins, Conner and Reece Lefever from Carroll High School.

Conner and Reece both stated their goals were to continue to wrestle and improve, become All-Americans, place as a team in Nationals, and develop relationships with their Indiana Tech wrestling teammates.

They chose Indiana Tech because they were excited to be a part of the new program and wanted to wrestle for a great coach. They also liked the class sizes Indiana Tech offers, and allows them to get to know their professors.

Conner and Reece both plan to study Accounting and eventually get their CPA certificates.
