Good room yesterday! Reminder, Just because the weather is nice we will still be wrestling!. We still had 26 in the room, but 40 is a lot nicer to have. Come get better every Wednesday 6-8pm.  As many know, The Escobedo Family has a long list of accolades. 3 cousins were on the Griffith Team in the early 2000's, between the 3 of them 7 state titles, 11 state medals, 7 Freestyle/Greco AA'S, and 5 D1 NCAA AA'S. To begin, Keque made the national scene in 2000, placing 7th at Cadet Freestyle Nationals. The next year at 103lbs he made his first trip to the IHSAA state finals. Making the podium and placing 7th in the state. Ending his Freshman season with a record of 50-8. The next year he advanced even further, making it under the lights as a Sophomore. Placing 2nd and his only loss on the season. As a Junior Keque once again made it to state, this time losing a nail biter Friday night in OT. He still finished the season with a record of 55-4. Griffith finished 2nd in the state as a team that year. Senior year came along, Keque making it to State once again. First match he came up with a 1st period pin over Pittman a Greensburg Freshman. Next match Saturday morning quarter finals, a double OT decision over Princetons Clay Leek. Semi-finals a 3-2 decision over Lawrence North Junior, David Gans. Finals, Under the lights once again, Keque joined the club with 3 of his teammates, and 2 of his cousins, Defeating a senior from Floyd Central, Brad Spine, 3-2. Ending his senior year with a record of 53-1 and his career with a record of 171-14. Keque also joined his cousin Andrae Hernandez, in furthering his wrestling Career by committing to Indiana University. The next year his other cousin would join, Now Indiana University Head Coach Angel Escobedo. After wrestling he joined the MMA scene where he was very successful. Keque is now an Ironworker, and also coaches at Region Wrestling Academy with Alex Tsirtsis, Andre Hernandez, Eric Roach, Andy Tevino, Renee Hernandez, Luis Acuna, and Bobby Donavan. We are excited to have one of Indiana's Greatest in our room to show us some things. Come out this Wednesday at 6pm for a great clinic with Coach Keque Escobedo. Hope to see you all there!

Well, looks like we've taken care of that problem.  Feels just like wrestling season outside!!!
