Man first they closed the place that was in in the basement of the old bank, then fox and the hound, then cheeseburgers, now Hammerheads.... wow I’m stunned....

I also went to a bar one time in a mall, it was like in an old Dept store or something. Very eclectic.

K.C.'s Time Out .....That's the bar in the mall....It's still open!  lol

You may want to keep this website handy...some FUNNY STUFF at times.   Gotta love E'Ville

So I need a vest and pistol?  They don't throw hands it sounds like lol

There was a day you could walk down most any street in Evansville and if you got hasselled at all it was throwing hands and nothing more.   The good ole days...

It's getting worse and worse.  Good news is we built a stadium RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WORSE PART OF THE ENTIRE MESS...

Evansville is a FANTASTIC town - to live out side of.

If you wish to take a little extra time, you can drive to the Far East side(we call it Newburgh) and eat at a little place called Tin Fish. Great seafood and fish place. They have the seafood and fish flown in every Tuesday and Thursday's. Amazing food

Makes me miss Roberts Stadium more and more every time a conversation of Ford Center comes up. Great location, great parking, bigger place for larger venues, better seating for space. Our elected officials had to have something with their name on it and line the pockets of their buddies, so Roberts Stadium took the hit.

So many great memories (and maybe many things I can't remember) of Roberts!   From the Circus as a kid to Ozzy, AC/DC. and Van Halen later in life...Seemed like the Obvious place to wrestle!

Yeah. One name that sticks out to me is Nathan Pickle!

Lol one of my best friends...you don't see highschool kids built like him.. unless it was James brimm who beat him in the semis...My cousin was Bubba Dickerson.. they all was 8 years older..we got 5th at team state in 01' and at the time that wasn't a big feat compared to the nationally ranked teams rex had for a few years

The Madisonians are probably out. West side feels more like home!

I’m going to stick to the chain restaurants on the east side.

With that said, those wanting to go to the casino... I will save you some time. Just swing by my hotel... I will take your money, kick you in the nuts, and send you back to your car... that would be the same feeling that you will have walking out of the Casino.

Btw.. looking for a place to hustle some darts.

Ha! May have to get out with Mr. Hughes.

Hey all... I did go to Western Ribeye and Ribs last year. I didn’t think it was very good. Save your cash.

The online reviews are most likely Fake News.

Evansville is a FANTASTIC town - to live out side of.

Spoken like a true country boy BlueBolt.  I've lived in downtown Evv three different times, including currently since Oct. 2014.  It's as safe as any part of the Evansville area as long as you know where you are going and aren't out wandering the streets alone late night.  It's a much safer downtown now than it ever has been (again lived there '92-5, '98-99 and '14-present).  We have an IU medical school opening up downtown soon to add to the population, so it will only keep getting better.  I live less than a mile from the Ford Center and have walked to and from many times without issue.

What we really need is "Hook's Evansville SS preview", but places in or near downtown Eville to check out:

www.HayniesCorner.com (less than 1 mile away):  Evansville Brew House, Waltons (big place with decent food and also has prohibition style speakeasy Fidel's upstairs); Sauced (good italian); Dapper Pig (gastropub); Mo's House (bar with great cocktails).

Main Street: Comfort (great place opened in 2017 on 3rd and Main.  Back Stage (across from Ford Center) good bar cheap beer and should have live music Friday night (I know they do on Sat. night.  Zuki as mentioned already.  The Peephole is a great dive bar on 2nd and Main.  Cafe Arazu 5th and Main.  Bruburger mentioned already 3rd and Sycamore one block off Main St.

Other downtown:  Madelines on 2nd and Oak - good upscale food.

Franklin Street (about 1.5 miles away from Ford Center): GerstHaus mentioned already, but also Smittys Italian Steakhouse, Pistons (high octane bar), Franklin Street Tavern, Franklin Street Pizza, Sportsmans Billiards are all good.

Matty B: Tropicana opened their land based casino in October 2017.  It's MUCH nicer than the old boat.  Also, Cavanaughs is still on the boat side of the street and is run by Tropicana.  I has a great steak there a couple weeks ago.  Prices are at good streak house prices though.

It's okay to leave Warrick County BlueBolt and experience new things.

Yea we won 106 straight duals over a 4 year span..and had a year where The team as whole only gave up 20 pins lol.. pickle went to IU and wrestled his red shirt year then dropped out..Still bummed bubba wasn't there in 96 finals vs EMD in the dual.. when we got runner up 2 years In  a row to them by the current point system and then lost the dual the next year in the finals 96 .. that was so sad and unfortunate but END was on a roll..to beat a team with 8 state qualifiers with 6 placing  is saying something.. and minus the returning HW STATE champion that put on one of the greatest state tourney in history def could've made it more interesting.. both teams were nationally ranked as well

I've thrown the plea out to Hook. Great review of the other places down town. I'll add that there are a plethora of places to eat and get drinks right there by Ford Center.

MattyB is correct on Western Ribeye. I only go there cause the wife likes the salad bar. For the prices they charge, I'd rather add to it and go to Cavanaughs as mentioned by  Backtothemat.

So the gun fire and increased crime rate is no problem... Got you... I realize you are the Ambassador of Tourism for Evansville, but some of us are life long residents of the area and have watched Evansville become Louisville more and more.    Is Evansville still a good place to live?  Compared to other locations yes... Is it as safe as it was five years ago?  No.    Don't believe me?   Check the local crime states, paying particular attention to the South East side of Evansville.

As for being a Country boy... I have lived in places you would never confused for country... And I returned to my home in Newburgh.   That's right, I am fourth generation Warrick County, and wouldn't live in Evansville if it was the last place a over water in the region.   If that causes you discomfort you will find me in the Don't Care section.

If you want a great steak, then check out House of Como. Not to pleasant to look at from the outside, but don't let that fool ya. Bring a stack thoughts it's costly, but worth it.
