Weight Allowance

Hypothetical question:

When a school cancels class on friday prior to a conference meet is there an additional 1 pound allowance for that school for the Saturday tournament?  If so does that allowance go to all teams or only those who had the school cancellation?

The rule wording refers to a team being unable to practice not canceling school.  In the event a school is unable to practice the day prior to a meet the coach/AD should contact the host school and inform them of the practice situation.  The host school is then charged with contacting the remaining schools and making them aware of any weight allowance that will be given as a result of a team being unable to practice.   All teams will be given the same weight allowance if this occcurs.

The HHC wasn't cancelled, but because schools were cancelled on Friday their will be an additional 1 pound allowance tomorrow.

May want to be more specific with HHC.  The Hoosier Heritage Conference (HHC)was not cancelled and will have an additional allowance tomorrow.

The Hoosier Hills Conference (HHC) was postponed due to weather and will be rescheduled for next weekend.

Sorry about that. Got short-sighted. Yes, the Hoosier Heritage Conference is on.

I was informed that if school and practice were cancelled, but you wrestled on Thursday night, you don't get that 1 pound allowance for Saturday's meet. Is that correct?

No, it is not correct. If schools were cancelled and no one practice. There is a pound allowance. You should have received some information from the school that you may be competing at or from the tournament director.

If you don't make a weight your trying to cut to for conference can your coach bump you up and bump another guy down..or does your team forfeit that weight

If they are following the same tournament rules as sectional you can not move a wrestler once the brackets are finalized.   I believe it used to be you can not move a seeded wrestler but not it’s any wrestler.  So depending on what the conference rules are at least the seeded wrestler must make that weight or be out.

Most, maybe not all, events allow would you to place another backup wrestler into the bracket.  However again if they are following the same criteria as sectional that wrestler would move to the last seeded position and the rest of the field would bump up a spot.
