Sunday Weigh-ins

If you are planning to weigh in on Sunday between 7-7:30am be aware you need to contact me at Joe@IndianaMat.com with the intention by the 7pm EST today(Thursday September 8th). Also be aware that there will be no weight changes and the wrestler MUST make the weight they are registered for.  For those weighing in on Sunday we will allow changing of weights between now and Friday at 5pm EST, but there will be a $10 weight change fee.  I will respond with a confirmation that I received your request. If you have previously made a request and did not get a response please send another email.

Weight Changes SATURDAY ONLY!

Weight changes can be made during Saturday’s weigh-in only! There will be a $10 charge for weight changes at that time. If you made a request to change a weight class over the past few weeks and it was not updated or you did not receive confirmation via email please send it again by 7pm EST today(Thursday September 8th).  You can view the weight classes of all wrestlers at the following link by selecting “Wrestler List.”

Coaches Passes

If you need a coaching pass you can get one at weigh-ins on Saturday to make it easier to get in the door on Sunday morning. If you have a USAW, AAU, or state coaches card you will receive a free coaches band. If you do not have one of those membership cards you can still get a coaches band for $10 general admission.

Weigh-in Procedures

Weigh-ins for Saturday will be from 6-9pm EST and from 7-7:30am on Sunday. Wrestlers can attempt to make weight as many times as possible during those times. To enter weigh-ins go through door 13 and you will need to fill out a waiver form.  There is a copy of the waiver attached if you want to get a head start. After you fill out your waiver you will proceed to get your weigh-in card and then go weigh-in. Wrestlers will need to weigh-in wearing a suitable undergarment, the same as NFHS rules.

Mouthpieces, Shaving, Hair, and Headgear

Wrestlers will need to be clean shaven before wrestling. They will not need to shave for weigh-ins, but need to shave before competing on Sunday. We will be relaxed on hair restrictions unless it is abrasive. Headgear is recommended, but optional. If your wrestler has braces he will be required to wear a mouthpiece during competition.

Time and Format

Wrestling will begin on Sunday at 9am on 12 mats. We will run two gyms with the main gym having 8 mats and the secondary gym having 4 mats. One great tool to use for match status is going to http://trackwrestling.com/mobile, selecting Tournaments and IndianaMat Hoosier Preseason Open. There you can view the current bout display and search upcoming matches by team or weight class.  We will also have numerous displays throughout the venue on Sunday.

Live Streaming

This year we will have live streaming of EVERY match on EVERY mat during the tournament. You can purchase a subscription for $19.99 on TrackWrestling.com at the tournament link. This is great for family members or coaches that cannot make the trip to Indiana to watch. We will also be the first event ever to have an archive feature, so if you miss a match you can go back and watch it.

We also have a team subscription available in which you can purchase a stream for $100 to distribute to up to 20 of your teammates, friends, or family. You can contact TrackWrestling at the following link to get more information.

Tournament Seeding

We will seed wrestlers based on their state and national accomplishments that you provided at registration. We will separate wrestlers into different groups that include State Champion, State 2nd/3rd, State 4th/5th, and so on. Based on those groups TrackWrestling will then randomly seed those individuals going from the first group down to the last group. This means if there are two wrestlers in the first group and three in the second, the first two wrestlers will be the 1 and 2 seeds, while the wrestlers in the second group will be seeds 3-5.

If your wrestler was not on our Stud List please email me immediately with his high school state placement or national credentials. Some examples of national credentials we will use are Fargo, Super 32, FloNationals, Tulsa, amongst other events. Please include name, weight, and their credentials.
