Assistant Wrestling Coach Women’s and Men’s

 

Lyon College invites applications for an assistant wrestling coach of its women’s and men’s wrestling programs beginning August 1, 2016.  The primary responsibilities of the assistant coach include recruiting, monitoring athlete’s academic progress, assisting in practice and match preparation, performing equipment care and inventory.  The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to comply with the NAIA, conference, and institution rules and regulations.  A bachelor’s degree is required.  Lyon College is a USN&WR “top tier” national liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  It is located in the foothills of the Ozarks in Batesville, Arkansas, a safe and convenient town of 10,000 that serves as commercial, medical, social, and governmental hub for an eight-county area.  The College enrolls approximately 600 students from twenty-five states and eleven foreign countries on its picturesque 136-acre campus.  Entering freshmen have an average HSGPA of 3.6 and an average ACT of 26.  The picturesque campus is 90 miles north of Little Rock and 125 miles west of Memphis. Title:                                      Assistant Women’s and Men’s Wrestling Coach

Department:                      Varsity Athletics

Classification:                     Full-time Position for 2015-16

Reports to:                          Wrestling Head Coach and Director of Athletics

Scope:

·         The primary responsibilities are recruiting, monitoring student-athletes academic progress, assisting in practice and match preparation, performing equipment care and inventory.

 

Special Skills and Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s Degree required

·         Job related experience or participation collegiate wrestling

·         Computer skills—use of Microsoft Office

Typical Duties, Responsibilities, Tasks and Assignments:

·         Recruitment of quality student athletes; in that regard, participate in comprehensive recruiting activities; coordinate efforts with admissions office to establish academic eligibility and arrange meetings between prospects and college officials; recommend individuals for scholarships Assists in the planning and running of woman’s practice, as well as the formulation and implementation of pre-and post-season conditioning programs

·         Work with Head Coach to organizes, plan and executes team travel.

·         Assists in wrestling meet set up; may also be asked to assist athletic department in roles such as facilities management and large event operations 

·         Breakdowns video analysis of male and female athlete performance

·         Assist the head coach in the daily responsibilities necessary to run a successful NAIA Wrestling program

·          Know and comply with all NAIA, conference, and Institute rules and regulations

·         Provide leadership and instruction in terms of the personal and athletic development of student athletes at Lyon College

·          Assist administrative staff in fundraising efforts, as appropriate. Represent the Lyon College Athletic Department at professional, civic, charity and alumni events.

·         Ensure compliance with NAIA, Conference, and Institute rules and regulations

·         Strong academic background, good organizational and supervisory skills, ability to relate to students in a leadership role, and good people skills required.

·         The Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of and ability to comply with NAIA, conference, and Institute rules and regulations.
