With MS state coming next week what is the correllation of being a MS state champ and being an IHSAA state champ? Have there been any MS state champs that fizzled out when they got to high school? Have there been any high school state champs that did not even place in MS State?

I'm not sure about champs per se, but I can tell you I have a podium pic from about 3-4 years ago and everyone of those kids but 1 ( another was injured his frosh year so ineligible and expect to see him there) has been a state qualifier at minimum. Not sure about the second part of your question.

Good question.

Taking the list from 2009 to 2012. I would say that winning this thing is a HUGE indicator of future success. Does anyone want me to post the last three years???

I would think there is more then you think with how kids mature and hit puberty.  A few off my head is Deandre Wilson 2x, Jared Mckinley 2x , DJ Smith, Pepple, Lyde. I bet the bigger number is MS State Champs that never win a HS State title.   But winning MS State is a great Stepping stone
